A beautiful introvert love story (and also it's good to see real people with real issues dealing with love)

An unconventional love story in a very unconventional setting. Luckily, there are some beautiful moments shot against simple but vibrant photography. Handicapped in their own way, the main chapters are allowed to find each other with patience that starts with magical realism and ends in a very believable reality.

Gorgeous visual storytelling, emotional, sensitive and... dreamy. About that lovely place where you find someone you can share a dream with and thus face reality a bit better.

I use to be an introvert. I also have Aspergers, so seeing a film where the main character may very well be on the Autism spectrum added to my experience quite a bit. l related to Mária in many ways and really connected with both of the leads. Beautifully shot and acted, even if the strange premise doesn't go as far as I thought it would have. It does require your patience, but I never got bored and I found myself very invested in characters who felt very real. A dreamy, pretty experience.

A beautifully told and well-acted story about love and communication in a sterile and ugly world.

Dreamlike, brutal, strange, unassuming, and beautiful. Sometimes all at once. A little marvel of a film.

Slaughterhouse romance, the European cinema does take a bit to get used to but usually it's worth it. The movie is slow, gentle and cruel. Unusual love story between almost-autistic girl and a childless older man, firstly connected via dreams later by themselves.

Most of it doesn't really click for me, mostly because it takes almost half the running time to get where it wants. But Enyedi's framing of Borbély's magnetic performance is truly the highlight here.

There's a love story between deer here, and there's a love story between Playmobil figures, and either of them is better than 99% of the love stories out there. It's delivered in beautiful cinematography, blends poetry and humor in a way I didn't think possible, has a great cast and practically reinvents the close-up - it's as if it was made for me!

First, I should say that we have here an icredibly lame and cliché story narrated in a meticulous, down-to-earth and humorous yet unadorned manner. 55 points goes to that. However, as always, I despise this humanist-romantic formula of initiation which is nothing but the emotional pornography of intellectuals. I love my romanticism when it achives to be a bigger than life metaphysical rebellion against the existing state of things. Here, we have instead a high-school romance of grown-ups.

At first glance, this film offers a very fresh way to understand relationship and love, nearly in a perfect way. However, throughout the movie it loses its soul little by little and starts to look like a classic love story. Moreover, the director have no capability if not little to finish this story so the film becomes longer than it is supposed to be

Labored, stale and unconvincing, rife with symbolist cliches. The slaughterhouse-porn that was so necessary for Fassbinder seems gratuitous here. The dream schtick feels cheap. The woman acts like she's supposed to be autistic, but they really just made her awkwardly lethargic. The man is bland and unrelatable. There's a boring and redundant subplot about a theft. I could not detect rhyme or reason for the romantic feelings between the protagonists.

Decent premise, but can't help from showing some nice-looking dream-sequences so artsily cliched, it verges on parody. The film breaks a sweat contriving its situations so that revelations can be made between characters, and these two central characters and their burgeoning romance is not very interesting and becomes even less interesting ("I love you. No, actually, I don't love you. No, wait, I do"). Also lacking in some artistic focus, as evidenced from the edgy scene of animal slaughter

*Minor spoilers* Intriguing romantic drama with some LADYHAWKE-esque fantasy elements is somewhat undermined by jarring lapses into unnecessarily confrontational scenes and subject matter; the mystical deer sequences don't support (and are overpowered by) graphic abattoir and suicide scenes; more abstraction here might have helped. Still Enyedi sustains a haunting and quite powerful love? lust? story, with thanks to Morcsányi and Borbély's deeply felt performances.

An extremely fanciful scenario initiates a really endearing romance, or mostly non-romance since Morcsányi's stubborn awkwardness and Borbély's Aspberger-like symptoms keep them apart for most of the movie, although they both take refuge in their shared dream.

it feels like a realistic, raw, nearly gruesome, take and twist on the manic pixie dream girl trope where the woman is autistic instead. a sweet story and beautiful creative cinematography
