Once Bitten

A fun little comedy-horror 80's thing, but the whole teenager is a reluctant vampire/werewolf/etc. plot had been done so many times at this point this movie is lost in the shuffle.

Flat out some of this is genuinely funny resulting in a good laugh. However the majority of the film is really cheesy, in the bad 80's cheese way. Which is really a shame because Jim Carrey has some great physical actions and facial expressions. It's certainly something you could miss, even if you're a fan of Jim Carrey, as it's part of all those "teenage becomes a monster" films that all seemed to come out at the same time.

It would be too easy to say that this movie bites. Plus, it wouldn't be accurate...

This teen horror-comedy fails on every level. Cleavon Little was a high point but even that was a low bar.

Finally saw this one. Mainly to see a young Jim Carrey. He didn't really branch out much but still demonstrated some good physical comedy. Overall, the movie is very cheesy, 80s and not too funny but watchable.

Feel good film. Wouldn't watch it again but wasn't horrible. Jim Carrey is still one of my favorite actors.

Definitely a movie in which things happen for reasons. I dunno. I guess it could have been worse. Or better.

The jokes mostly don’t hold up but Jim Carrey is never not lovable, and the actresses are pretty good, too.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Cause I was raised thinking Ace Ventura was Carrey's first movie. I saw this and was blown away that there was an 80's comedy where Jim Carrey plays a vampire that needs to have sex. Definately worth seeing.

Middling horror comedy about a centuries-old vampire who needs to feed on the blood of a male virgin by midnight on Halloween in order to remain young and beautiful never really finds the right balance of laughs to scares. In fact, the horror elements are barely explored and most of the situations are played for broad laughs like a sitcom. On the plus side, Lauren Hutton and Jim Carrey are appealing leads. If you pick one vampire movie from 1985, I'd recommend "Fright Night" instead.

Tedious would-be spoof notably for an early Jim Carrey appearance - and some tantalizing views of a sexy Lauren Hutton. Best avoided.

When I was a kid, this movie turned me on. I guess I have a thing for powerful, aggressive women who knock you out and bite your inner thigh.

There are worse ways to go, but Once Bitten doesn't offer anything new to vampire cinema or the 1980s teen movie genres. Carrey is good as is some of the acting, but it is, however, Jim Carrey before he was Jim Carrey haha. Meh movie, meh film-making. Not really worth your time.

Even running this through the 80s bell curve of crap-dom, it's still crap. It's truly sad watching Cleavon Little play second banana to the likes of the overrated Jim Carrey and the under-talented Lauren Hutton.
