Once Upon a Time in China and America

The fight choreography is directed with enthusiasm, but the story is a distraction. The whole time I had questions, like: Is it possible to appropriate appropriation to appropriate more appropriating? Examples: 1) Chinese stuntmen in redface playing American Indians getting mowed down by kung fu. 2) Can Jet Li be classified a White Savior in the Western genre? 3) A Western actor plays a Mexican Bandit with an Eastern mustache who looks like Shao Kahn in drag. I'm serious, I need answers.

If you're still watching these for the action sequences, this one is a 4/5, even though several of the non-Chinese have decent enough kung fu kicks in them. If you were hoping for actual plot and maybe a resolution to the on-and-off romance, well, this one should probably be skipped. (Of course, if this were produced by Marvel, these would be four-hour films with a lot of spin-offs for all the villains and side characters, so maybe it's a win?)

Great martial arts but don't go in expecting a deep story, well-written dialogue or passable acting. Also, plot holes!

Okay Movie

nice to see the cast together again, not so nice that its the equivalent of a bad made for tv movie.
