One Minute to Zero

Tried hard to get in to this one. Robert Mitchum carries it as best as he can but the screen writers struggle to balance a good war with a good romance. The former is engaging while the latter is not. The saving grace is that this is a period Korean War film, of which there aren't too many. Had this been a WWII film, I would have scored it a 1

Stars Robert Mitchum & Ann Blyth, a project from Howard Hughes. Hollywood struggles to make the Korean War make sense, is what I got out of it. It's tedious at first, and half-hearted at best once the war action gets going. It's a frustrating propaganda affair. For me, it was most interesting as to how the movie world was trying to adapt to a new war era, one where they weren't the clear heroes. The first few attempts truly clashed with their formula.
