The opening was gangster awesome. So was the chill of the ending. The rest was pure melodrama.... but real and dirty. Billie Dove didn't make many talkies, but this one is good. Also Douglas Fairbanks Jr. does well with the little he had to do. But the real star is the old ma' Helen Ware! She is the undeniable boss in this!
