If you're here because of Slavoj Zizek, as entertaining as he is in that Pervert's Guide documentary, I'm 90% sure he's trolling everyone in saying this is one of his favorite films.

I'm a little torn between if I liked Kristina Söderbaum's performance or not. At times, her behavior didn't seem to be in love with the camera, and that knowing it's her husband Veit Harlan behind the camera trying to capture her as perfect as can be. Her leading man wasn't exactly a dazzling character either, but I guess they fit the story in their own way. Certainly got better at the end with Söderbaum's big moment. It was a adult drama, and things was surprisingly mature about it.
