You always hope for HOMELAND Season 4, but sometimes you settle for HOMELAND Season 5.

Pretty neat. Manages to strike a good balance between tension and impending doom. You know this isn't going to end well, but you're watching to see exactly what happens and to whom. Makes me want to read the novel. because it's an interesting story, but I also suspect that this isn't quite doing it justice.

About as close to a smoking gun as you can get.

If you've been watching Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie bring the literary espionage of John le Carré to vibrantly suspenseful life on AMC's The Night Manager, then you should already be panting for Our Kind of Traitor. Sadly, it's not quite as tasty. But director Susanna White, working from a savvy script by Hossein Amini, finds a way to get the job done with her own brand of playful polish.

Interesting drama with a good cast, even if its plot is blurred by many similar spy thrillers.

One of the most predictable espionage films I've seen. What it does have going for it is great performances from the main cast and it actually looks really nice in places. A good use of muted colours throught.

For something that involves russian mafia, one would expect a bit less boredom and more dying.

Interesting premise devolves mostly into an ordinary thriller where McGregor and particularly Harris are pushed into the background with little to do and no character. Lewis and Skarsgard are excellent, but it's a really ordinary story beyond the (mostly unexplored) hook.

The kind of predictable, middle-of-the-road spy thriller that my in-laws love. Doesn't hold a candle to Tinker Tailor.

I think it looks good and has some good, but not great, performances, but it's basically an average espionage thriller with a Russian mafia that seems a little declawed. It's fine, ultimately, even if the plot can get a little silly, but there's better out there.

Chekov's gun shows up first thing, but this being John Le Carre I didn't expect it was going to be fired any time soon. The little action there was is somewhat inept and oddly edited, but the other scenes are good at building tension. Also some inappropriate shaky cam and odd framing (Mr. Robot does that for good effect but here it is off kilter) for dialog scenes towards the beginning.

Extra points for having an excellent cast. The story is a bit shabby, but the action moves along nicely. The premise is contrived and weak but provides a few good moments of suspense. Performances are good. Good quality production. Worth watching, but forgettable.
