Out of Blue

Got pretty excited at the 4.8 IMDb score after reading that summary; how could you not? And for a spell it does stand pleasingly apart. Some of the random weirdness is clearly aping Lynch (later, Hitch) but it establishes a style all its own, frequent visual puns welcome and invigorating the arch metaphysical noodling, playful conspiratology, & other assorted nonsense. But it's just as frequently inexcusably clunky (Gummer carelessly cut-together; mementos; "...just like Schrödinger's Cat!!!")

Truly baffling. I legitimately lol'd when Clarkson said "Eels. Cool band." I can't imagine the Amis novel is anything like this.

Horrendous attempt at modern noir.
