It can kind of drag (in fact, almost the entire first half of the first season was pretty slow, with about one episode of content scraped over three), but once it picks up it actually gets to be a fairly gripping and entertaining historical fantasy romance epic. Caitriona Balfe is just magnetic in the lead role, striking and charismatic. She also shows her boobs a bunch.

Sam Heughan's butt rivals Channing Tatum's, sexuality is a spectrum, etc etc. First two seasons are worth watching (score of around 65) then you're better off pretending everyone died at Culloden.

Very intimidating movie, in regards to our own most hidden wishes and desires. It`s altogether a master piece about the Jacobite cause in Scotland

Fun time traveling adventure with some really brutal bits that keep it from being a girly soapy show.

The historical settings are fascinating, and the actors are all really good. There's some brilliant cinematography as well. There can sometimes be pacing issues in some episodes but even the weakest episodes are usually pretty well made that I don't care all that much. The show isn't holding up quite as well in its later seasons, but there's still enough to make me excited to watch the next.

Season 2 gets silly, and I quit watching. They really antagonize the villain for no reason; you'd think after what they'd just gone through, they'd be a bit more cautious, but no, they gall him to the point he's nearly sympathetic. The whole premise blows up because the "heroes" were needlessly rude, and it seemed rather out of character.

Season 1- last episode. The worst torture scene I've ever experienced. Experienced I said, because it was mental. Although the cinematic teachnique of juxtaposition is used commonly, this time it struck my neurons hard. Anyhow, the tension in the plot more or less the same in every 3 or 4 episodes. A love story is there. I don't consider it fantastic. Still it's my first time enjoying myself with a historic British drama. I only watched the 1st season.

Few performances are more magnificent or as beautiful as Caitriona Balfe in this exciting and engaging series. Sam Heughan is also quite satisfying. I was completely captivated by the love story and the performances. With only a few exceptions every episode is clever, interesting, exciting and engaging. The plot is a whirlwind of adventure, and a sometimes staggering amplitude of love, loss, triumph, and hardship. However, some of their good and bad luck was a bit too convenient.

A first rate british fantasy romancer with strong leads and production slowly losing interest through the years. Last watched in 2020. A rather fantastic wedding episode in season 1 seems to me its peak, looking back. Year ratings: 8-8-8-8-7-7-7
