At once highly compelling and extremely boring. Enough happens to fill several films - two murders, a resurrection, one of the weirdest sex scenes I've ever seen - and yet nothing happens - a couple wander around a marshy Pas de Calais landscape not saying much.

Disappointing. Also, hard to take seriously. My least favourite film by this filmmaker (edit: until SLACK BAY).

With panoramic, still shots and harsh characters, Dumont did one of the most exquisite and impressive horror films of the past few years. Satan is both a quite curious psychological and supernatural ride.
