Excellent satirical animation with a strong hand-made look. Seen through the eyes of scruffy, misshapen characters in a rickety old street, life in a Soviet state is bluntly depicted. Not just in the copious drinking and mile-long queues for shops, but through the primary plot in which a conflicted suicidee hangs from a rooftop, while others are dying all around by accident as the authorities fight each other and fail to do anything useful. The fine tradition of Czech animation continues.
