I'll probably live a life of terrible anguish for admitting this, but "Paddington 2" is an unexpected gem of a kids movie. I was fully entertained and my heart was warmed. I couldn't have asked for a better surprise.

I don't really see how anyone could dislike these movies. Both of them have exceptional directing and whimsical writing and characters. Like the first film, it's safe, fun, and quite enjoyable. This one even turns the emotion up a little more. This was every bit as cute and as entertaining and as charming as the first movie. Definitely a must-see!

I honestly can't remember the last time I cried so much during a movie (to say nothing of laughter). So pure and innocent without a cynical bone in its body. Absurdly wonderful. VIEWING 2: Bloody hell, this is a masterpiece.

Keeps the cute British humour of the first film, with another delightful villain and some added Wes Anderson-esque flair (see the opening character updates; prisoners' introductions), and within this quirky framework floods you with overwhelming emotion (see the lovely tie-in of Mary's training at the climax, and of course that beautiful bear with the most selfless of souls showing the radical power of kindness: Knuckle's first taste of marmalade was his first taste of love and I'm sobbing).

These films are intangibly special. I feel like locking them away to keep peoples' grubby depression off of them. The magic and charm of the original is back with full gusto for the sequel, and though I got a few Grand Budapest vibes, the film -- like the original -- is always full of adorable surprises. I welled up at the end. I'm not ashamed to say it. This fucking bear, man. Oh, and Hugh Grant is goddamn great.

Paddington's approach to humanity is simple and winsome, but it is such a departure from much of what we see politically and otherwise in this day and age that its simplicity seems all the more revolutionary. Maybe love for one's neighbor has always been so. The film does a marvelous job of illustrating the way that love and attention brings life and transformation to the world around us. In this way, Paddington 2 is a decidedly hopeful film.

I'll give the overly choreographed 1st act a pass, because the movie in and of itself is pretty funny and sweet, despite encouraging your kids to go to prison, where they belong. [LOOKS OVER TO MY PUBLICIST] I said that last part out loud, didn't I?

Solid sequel to the first Paddington which took me by surprise. This time I had read too many favorable reviews and the quality of the film didn't come as a surprise. As for actors; Hugh Grant was the highlight and obviously had fun playing with his own persona.

I am not sure if I enjoy marmalade. But you know what, I am not going to get in anyone's way if they do enjoy it. People are free to enjoy anything they want. That's the great thing about democracy. Where was I? Hugh Grant does some great camp.

This sequel is just as pleasant as the first one. It's just a simple, lovely little children's story, with a lot of old values, but updated for a new generation. The plot is pretty cliché, and I saw all the story beats coming miles away, but it worked where it counted. It was plenty heartwarming and funny. I didn't love it, but I enjoyed watching it, for sure. I'd be keen for another one.

It's just as whimsical as the original but I think I like it a little bit more as a whole. While the first lost a little steam near the end, this didn't. I felt it more emotional, just as funny and of course the message is moving. While great for kids and adults alike, these deserve credit for being visually interesting; the paper London part especially was cool, but it's full of little fantastical touches that elevate it beyond most other kid flicks. And I didn't grow up with Paddington.

Have you ever met someone who always changes his or her environment for the better? Paddington certainly does. No matter how harsh the conditions may be, how mean the words sound or how bad the bad guys' intentions, Paddington always asks simply, "What would Aunt Lucy do?" And that one little reflection has the potential to transform even the most dire of situations into a jolly good time, because Aunt Lucy always does the right thing--even when others might choose the wrong thing.

Paddington 2 is a very solid sequel to the very solid original film. It's a lot of fun, it moves very quickly, it's got a lot of laughs, and it fills you with energy and joy. It's a sweet and happy movie that will delight both children and adults. It's so difficult to dislike and, much like its predecessor, may have a few minor problems--a lack of development being the main one--but they don't detract from the overall experience.

Oh boy, am i becoming a Scrooge? To my total surprise i found this universally acclaimed family comedy (one of my favorite genres i could say) too cartoonish and trying obnoxiously hard to be heartwarming, mostly in a dull, artificial, vomit-inducing sugar-overload way. You can see every "life lesson" from a mile away, and the humor seemed just too self-ensured and lame. One more silly escapade of our adorable bear and i would lost my eye from rolling.

Well, here's one I'm fairly certain nobody will agree with me on, but I really disliked this film. Perhaps I was in the wrong mood since I moderately liked the first film, but every second of this gaggle of British character actors mugging for the camera while this vapidly dunderheaded little bear hatched his nonsensical plans to acquire a pop-up book grated on my nerves. (I don't like Wallace & Gromit either.)

Utterly charming sequel is much sharper (and more cleverly written) than its predecessor, even managing to intersperse some genuinely touching emotional beats in its somewhat cornball but most welcome message of uniting with your community. Beautifully performed all round, with Grant all but stealing the film in a hilarious performance as an ageing hack, and the film benefits from its careening down some absurd avenues, especially during the silly but incredibly suspenseful train chase finale.

A very nice slice of entertainment for the whole family, though not one straying away from the usual path. It has one foot in the whimsical and charming books, yet another foot in a cheeky and consistent modern sense of humour. Is at all times lovingly designed (directed by Wes Anderson?) and is capped off with an exciting and ultimately surprisingly tense climax action sequence. Although it's not too long, it did seem to drag in the prison scene, featuring less funny and appealing characters.

Everything said in my review for Paddington applies to this sequel. It's whimsical and charming, though at times it's deep dive into its own fantastical logic undermines the theme it's trying to get across; this theme is a wholeheartedly wholesome one of cooperation and goodness making the world a better place. Hugh Grant is fun. Honestly, you'd have to try hard to dislike this film even if at times it feels a little calculated, and personally I preferred the first entry.

Sequels often lose a lot of their spark and direction, but Paddington 2 is that exception where the sequel is as good as the original. Charm, humor, and wit are all there. The animation is crisp, and the theme of what makes Paddington so unique and valuable is in no way diminished. Highly recommended.

As far as sequel films go, this is a surprisingly good one. Particularly given that the concept of Paddington is highly tenuous and can lose the audience very quickly. But, somehow, they managed to put together a decent story and keep Paddington likable. Grant's villain is a more rounded one compared to Kidman's in the first movie, which also helped. If you are looking for a film for your kids that won't bore you to death, this is a good one.

Espousing the same message about caring for others as the first film (as important in 2017 as it was in 2014, and indeed still is in 2021) but even more adorable and heart warming. Grant is an even more satisfyingly (for the audience) villainous antagonist than Kidman (the baddie in 2014) and the cast is only the better for the inclusion of Gleeson, Taylor, Lumley, Bhaskar and a fabulous cameo from Richard Ayoade. The Wes Andersen aesthetic is even stronger here than in the first instalment.

Without getting the thesaurus out to try to find alternatives to cute, enchanting, warm, funny, innocent, I will just have to say well, that is EXACTLY what this is. I saw this the day after I saw Dumbo (2018) and this is everything that that film isnt. Underplayed, subtle, charming, restrained, and delightfully, unashamedly British. What a fantastic cast to boot. You can criticise it for losing its way a little towards the end, but a truly remarkable, beautifully crafted piece of entertainment

Paddington 2 is a fluffy, inoffensive and wholesome little movie. And I really don't have much to say about it, other than that I really enjoyed it. The primary color palette is beautiful, and surprisingly detailed. A few sequences are especially memorable, including a paper journey through London and a brilliant scene involving Mad-Eye and marmelade. Recommended to anyone with a beating heart, and especially to those who feel that the world is a tad too confusing at the moment.
