Padre padrone

Excellent surreal film that often brings odd quirks and eccentricities to the cinematics and story-telling of this tale of paternal dominance, something that likely influenced Jodorowsky and The Dance of Reality.

Ouch!

Strongly opposing poverty backed up by tradition to education leading to modern life, this is sometimes rather rough and unsubtle, but at other times seems to exert a strange power. Winner of the Palme d'Or, which a year later would go to L'ALBERO DEGLI ZOCCOLI, a far more subtle and less oppositional film, but in fact the two movies in some way complement each other as portraits of the character and fate of rural existence in Italy as it shifts towards industrialisation. Hard to give a score.

Em honra de Vittorio Taviani (1929 - 2018) Me foi muito difícil assistir esse filme, mesclando poesia visual com uma brutalidade crua, acabou movendo várias questões de como o patriarcado deve acabar. An interesting look at rural life in Sardinia through the portrait of a poor family's traditional existence.

Rural life. Winningly written, finally engrossing, charming and interesting.

Sorry, but this was one of the most boring movie experiences ever for me.
