Paracelsus

Georg Wilhelm Pabst, always a great director, in sound too, even if his most famous work comes from the silent era. Paracelsus (1943) might be one of his best talkies. Tells the story of Swiss healer Paracelsus and his run-ins with the real professionals within medical profession. Werner Krauss turns in a solid performance as the title character, but for me it's all about the sneaky Fritz Rasp as his main sceptic. So sly and vulgar!
