A fascinating topic that could have been much more interesting

Interesting idea but somehow not that compelling or edifying

This powerful documentary about the persecution and internment of gay men under the Third Reich features a handful of interviews with the few survivors from that time. Spliced together with interesting archival footage and expressionistic interludes (less successful) it recovers a neglected history and subtextually issues a timely warning about the rhetoric of right-wing nutballs we hear from regularly on the US news.

Very maternally uninspired.
