Wasn't sure what I was expecting from this, and not quite sure what I got. Unfortunately the title and first 5 minutes give away the supposed big reveal, so most of the viewers' time is spent waiting for the main character to catch up. When he finally does, there's a disappointing lack of resolution. However, the relentless mood of the film keeps one watching regardless. Could have been great, but as is it's merely watchable.

No, you don't get cool explosions or guns, or fancy CG effects, but you do get an absolutely awesome near-future dystopic story with a biting commentary on advertising and software development, all wrapped up in an extremely immersive, slow paced film. Everything is subordinated to the mood here, which is emphasized by the color choices and simple score.

An intelligent postmodern depiction of man caught in the sinister confusion of a late-capitalist society. Gilliam, Kafka, Orwell and the Czech surrealists are but a few of the influences that make this piece of cinema a highly compelling one. A slightly better cast could have made the film a masterpiece.

In a world that lacks a budget to pay for decent sets, everyone lives in crack houses and shops at 7-11, passing the time by buying milk, pounding on Apple IIe keyboards, and listening to the soothing song of cheaply made plastic bugs hidden under Bishop's bed. This message has been brought to you by the National Dairy Association.
