Parasite

I think I saw three faces blow up and a neat skeleton thing at the end. Riveted.

So I get the parasite, allows for some good gore, creates tension, is a monster. What I don't get is the shoehorned apocalyptic setting that adds not much of anything when you stop to think about it. Not that you should stop to think about this one. It was fun though, would be much more so in 3D.

This offers a really intriguing post-apocalyptic world, but doesn't explore any of its ideas enough. The script is all over the place, with characters flip-flopping personalities & none of them having any real depth- it's pretty difficult to figure out who the real protagonist is, too. The creatures are neat & make the whole thing feel kind of worthwhile, but ultimately they're not enough to salvage the mess. The performances aren't bad, at least- it's wild that Demi Moore's in this.

Amusingly bad.

Pity that the sort-of post-apocalyptic world is never explored; but then, nothing makes much sense in this movie. However, it has Demi Moore - before she was a star. Campy fun.

This is ranked very low. I don't know how it works on 2D, but at least on 3D it was a lot of fun. It was also a nice surprise to find out that it was a dystopian sci-fi/horror hybrid. The main character was not too charismatic and the plot made little sense, but I liked the world building and thought that the 3D effects were clever and delivered a couple of effective jump scares. The creature is also good enough. Plus points for early Demi Moore role and prominent use of a black Lamborghini.
