Completely ridiculous, Buster Keaton shines when he is allowed to do his thing but the dialogue and much of the rest of the film isn't very good.

While Nuster may be a bit out of his element here, MGM taking the reigns from Buster actually pumped out a pretty good movie this time around. It might not include any side splitting laughs or awe inspiring stunts, but it's a fine comedy.

A bit above average in the Keaton talkie pack, with a truly funny climax that sees Keaton take plenty of pratfalls alongside able comedienne Charlotte Greenwood. I only wish that the first 40 minutes weren't a bunch of dead air.

Romantic farce based on a stage-play. The only reason to watch it is, of course, Buster Keaton. Talkies he acted in never came even close to his own silent masterpieces, but I simply can't get enough of him. Dialogs in this film are witty, and often really funny, but physical comedy doesn't work that well in sound films. All in all, it's entertaining film, but in the end it gets too absurd.

Very roughly executed farce comedy based on the play. Has it's crazy moments like the absurd physical comedy pairing of Buster Keaton and tall girl Charlotte Greenwood that brought the clear highlights of the movie. And Buster gets enough chances to display his visual comedy along with a few good lines. And respect to the women taking Buster's less then gallant romantic touches. While not reaching his classic silent comedies it is still worth your time as long as you don't expect a masterpiece.

Not a Keaton in the way Keaton movies should be but it's cute

Well, that certainly felt every bit the risque stage farce from 1918 that it is. Poor Buster seems as bewildered as we are to have happened upon him wandered into such a production in 1931, but it kind of works. Particularly once we hit the play's final act, in which, as is customary, the action properly heats up.
