The first movie both Jean Epstein and Jean Benoît-Lévy ever directed. And it's a biographical movie about pioneering microbiologist Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) and how he helped fix the germ problems France had in the milk and wine industry, inventing the pasteurization process and more in the mid-1800's. The movie isn't much. A lot of facts on title card (in French in the version I saw) and just some moving images to illustrate his work. Including a grotesque experimentation on a live rabbit.
