Patema Inverted

A little slow, but chocked full of concept. You know that friend who always needs you to explain time travel in movies? Don't watch this with them.

I really enjoyed this movie. Fun and exciting concept with easy suspension of disbelief (I'm fine with the laws of physics being given the slip for a good cause). Decent characters I could get invested in, even if the villain is perhaps evil for evil's sake. Beautiful animation. And a nice twist at the end, even if it raised questions for me that were never answered. One of the better efforts I've seen for a funky concept. Am I easier on an anime than a high-brow sci-fi movie? Maybe.

Niemniej jednak to jego realizacja wydaje się być tym czynnikiem, który przeszkadza mu w osiągnięciu statusu kultowego. Głównym problemem jest scenariusz, który nie pozwala do końca wybrzmieć głębi emocjonalnej. Niemniej jednak pozostaje to przyjemnym doświadczeniem wizualnym. Some interesting concepts and great world building but unfortunately it was also quite boring and not as entertaining as one would expect.

Cool concept undermined by a weak, one-dimensional villain.

The summary gives off a world beyond your expectations and it gives us just this. We meet the heroine and believe 'okay, this will be about her' and at one point she escapes from a human that walked on the ceiling to become that human to walk on the ceiling when she reaches the surface. A story that steadily ends up with an attempt to explain what happened but honestly leaves far too much inconclusive, it still had excellent world and character building.
