So lazy he doesn't lift a finger even when it's killing time. Finally, a villain I can relate to. This falls squarely into third place on Richard Franklin's filmography of auspicious thrillers. I couldn't tell you which is better between Road Games and Psycho II because they're both masterpieces of suspense as far as I'm concerned. Patrick is a step down from that but it's a creepy effective step nonetheless.

This was so slow and boring that even the slightest movement by Patrick came off as thrilling. Patrick perfectly captures all the nuances and excitement of being in a vegetative state. Favourite part has a man who devoted over a decade of his life to become a doctor just slap Patrick really hard across his face. "Well I'm all outta ideas

Entertaining little horror film that relies heavily on its creepy atmosphere and largely succeeds.

An entertaining, tentatively pro-feminist/female empowerment film about a young single woman wresting control of her life from the eponymous Patrick. Patrick is the quintessential emotionally abusive husband; he's a jealous, impotent momma's boy who demands round-the-clock care and attention without reciprocation. He exercises control without ever raising a finger. Hell, he even spits on his female caretakers to further degrade them. His comeuppance was immensely satisfying. Worth seeing.

I'm not sure if this is a trashy exploitation movie trying to pass itself off as a Cronenbergian psychodrama about divorce and unequal hiring practices, or a Cronenbergian psychodrama having to sell itself as a trashy exploitation movie to get funding. But while it fumbles around a bit and doesn't really deliver the gore for either movie, it's still enjoyable enough and a very nice performance by Penhaligon.

Although the film was really a bad one, I kind of liked it. It was crooked for my taste. I saw it for the first time in 1992. It says, score by Brian May, but he's not the one from Queen. Susan Penhaligon was sweet and the whole thing was nicely unpolished. I still remember the poem Patrick wrote to her. :7

There are some good moment s but over all this was just very underwhelming. Had the pacing been a bit better and the runtime a bit shorter than this might have been a bit more enjoyable.

The pool scene is actually quite good and even though Patrick is silly at times it's still a well rounded horror thriller.

Manages to be quite original, with touches of evocative Cat People-style horror throughout. Also manages to sustain the suspense, despite the fact that the title character is more or less a mannequin for the whole time period (quite a feat). Oh yeah, and actually has nothing at all to do with feminism (thank God). Anyway, Tarantino was right: this one was very cool indeed!

Probably the greatest Australian movie of all time.

Box Versátil Obras-primas do Terror volume 11.

I believe this was the first theatrical script by De Roche, who had been a TV writer, and from here on became one of the most interesting writers in the horror genre. The freshness of the premise is still evident. It won't scare a modern audience's socks off, but there's something kinky-creepy pervading a text that's respectable and engaging to boot. Penhaligon is radiant in a fascinating lead role opposite Patrick, while other characters are a little flat. The ending doesn't work, alas.
