Pawn Shop Chronicles

After a first act that feels like a particularly hacky spec Tarantino rip from the '90s (even winkingly implying D'Onofrio's character is the brother of the pawn shop owner in PULP FICTION) this grows progressively more unpredictable, and unpleasant, with sharp, strange turns into fantasy-horror territory and an ending seemingly designed to delight psychopaths and disgust everyone else. Which means it still beats 2 DAYS IN THE VALLEY.

what's with all the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse references? Does it mean Elijah Wood is the devil?

If you own this movie I wouldn't pawn it off, it's actually quite good. The movie reminds me of Sin City with a comedic twist...

If you're into different movies, this is for you; It's weird,wacky and wonderful. Be warned this is not for the sensitive type as there is graphic violence and plenty of skin. It's kind of a few stories all sorta kinda put together to make one entertaining ride.

Pawn Shop Chronicles is an oddly-paced collection of connected stories that indulge in violence, nudity, and downright stupidity. There is a theme of fortuity carried throughout the film, with a wry undertone of "no good deed goes unpunished". It's an odd film, with oddball characters played by a surprisingly high-profile cast. It isn't good, but there's a strangeness that gets you invested.
