Pawn

Pawn is a an odd combination of generic execution with moments of surprising intensity. Everything in this film is a mixed bag, from the cast to the plot to the direction. There are attempts at non-linear storytelling but its inclusion is pointless and half-hearted. A lot of clichés add to a convoluted plot that forces a resolution in under 90 minutes, forcing the 3rd act into overdrive and setting poor pacing for the film on the whole. It's very watchable, but not very good at the same time.

Some nice bits of intensity but it's too generic. Despite the A-list cast, the production falls squarely in the B-movie category. Common can't act at all, and I'm surprised that Forrest Whitaker would agree to be involved with such a low quality script.

Faris stars as Tom Cruise and Chiklis as Ross Kemp in this very 'of its type' crime-suspense-standoff-thriller-thingy. The story holds your attention but becomes a little too convoluted, which is one of the reasons why the inevitably disappointing finale feels even more so. But hey, it's got a decent cast, the writing and direction are both sufficient, and for a 90-minute Sunday night flick you can't complain.

Ne zaman ne olacağı belli olmayan ve çekiciliğini buradan alan film. İlk bakışta kalabalık kadrosuyla dikkat çekiyor, tempo yüksek değil belki ama hiç düşmüyor dolayısıyla izleyeni sıkmıyor. Senaryo, konu ve işleyiş genel olarak başarılı.
