Pedro Zamora was one of the most important & vibrant US pop-cultural figures during the early years of the AIDS crisis. He deserves a decent treatment on film, but this isn't it. Alex Loynaz is robotic in the lead role & there are lots of wince-inducing lines & line readings & overall liberal touchy-feeliness. The narrative is crudely & mechanically constructed, never escaping its opening shots, and the explicit artificiality, of a filmed version of a reality show. Ill-conceived.
