Just boring. A bunch of characters appear to die off and then are resurrected soon after. The villain is extremely weak and when we finally get a villain that should be better in Kronos, Percy kills him in two minutes. Also, the cgi cyclops eye was really distracting for me.

Nathan Fillion shows up for one quick scene early on and drops a veiled (and hilarious) "Firefly" reference. After that, it's okay for the grownups to fall back asleep and/or keep pretending they aren't watching solely because Alexandra Daddario is really hot. Nothing else to say about this.

Not once, not twice, not thrice, not four times, but FIVE TIMES does a character appear to get killed off, then either have their death revealed as a fakeout or get revived. Virtually all the action scenes consist of the characters fighting mediocre CGI creatures. After hyping up for the whole movie that Kronos is so powerful he can destroy the entire world, he shows up and Percy kicks his ass in less than five minutes. Most annoying comic relief sidekick this side of Jar Jar. So... hated it!

There is a lot of action even though much of it is silly. I mostly liked the performances from the young actors. The story, script, special effects and animation are a mixed bag of good and bad. Great music and video production. Alexandra Daddario and Leven Rambin are cute and convincing. Logan Lerman satisfies. The story is outlandish but whimsical. The sea horse was kind of cool. Some of the humor fell flat, but the epic adventure was entertaining.

This was the worst book adaptation I've ever seen. I felt like director and producer gathered and one of them said. Lets make a terrible movie but it should be so popular so people should get curıous and go to theatre.

Certainly seems brighter, and lighter on its feet, than Part 1, and missing the quite ugly and sinister Pantoliano subplot, but even at its best this still feels like cut-rate HARRY POTTER, and loses some of its gravitas from clumsy recasting (Head is fine, but he’s no Brosnan). Has its share of clever ideas (love the demented taxi drivers), and some furious fantasy plotting that (par for the course) went over my head – but an overall enjoyable if unmemorable genre entry.

Slightly worse than the first one, but about the same. Which is to say it has some fun moments but relies more on cool ideas than good execution.

You could do a lot worse. If my kids became avid fans of Percy and his friends, I would be okay with it, not only because of the obvious themes of trust, loyalty, duty, and honor, but because Percy is a thoughtful, introspective young man who asks the (teen-level) existential questions I'd want my kids to explore themselves. The film is engaging and not stupid the way so many adventure films for grownups seem to be. Mildly recommended for older children and tweens.

Not as good as the first film, missing a lot of umph. Character changes are a bit annoying.

If you didn't like the first Percy Jackson movie, you're not going to like this one. BUT, Annabeth is a babe.

Percy and his friends Annabeth, daughter of Athena & satyr Grover are firmly ensconced at Hogwar ... I mean, Camp Half-Blood, "the only place on Earth that is safe for our kind," where they're learning to use their powers and engaging in various competitions with other demigods. Percy is having doubts about his self-worth, talking to the water, waiting for a response. He's not sure he's genuinely earned any of the respect, a situation made worse being bullied by Clarisse, a daughter of Ares.

A rollercoaster for kids. Lots of bad CGI and the story that tried to god on. Plenty of rewritten legends in mishmash order. Again safe movie making for youngsters to enjoy.

I thought this movie did a respectable job of adapting the book and making the plot changes of the first book fit in the second.

An even more amped up version of the last film. Rick Riordan's story comes to life with even more Greek Mythological references and even a surprise visit from Nathan Fillion who makes a Firefly reference, which brought me endless joy. The action is good but the comedy is very low brow set for small children. I found myself rolling my eyes and some of the slapstick comedy. Alexandra Daddario is the true Goddess in this. Her part is smaller than the last film, but she is still awesome.

It's pretty dumb but if I was 12 I'd have loved it. It's pretty light weight preteen fantasy similar to the first couple of Harry Potter films. Was Nathan Fillion's Firefly reference the best part?, maybe but it wasn't that good either. Haven't seen the first one and now I don't want to. This movie gets a giant MEH!

Some improvements from the first one - with a more enjoyable quest better told, some pondus-support from S.Tucci, A.Head and N.Fillion (and a Firefly-reference bonus-bonus!), and R-potential-pleasure from an older Alexandra.D and an added Leven.R. *Preview*: #13#, exp-2*, popcorn, (pt1), cast, R2.

7.5/10 I think this was better then the first one, not by much but still better. With that said a lot of the humor was dry, I thoroughly enjoyed Nathan Fillion and his firefly reference. "Greatest show ever, of course cancelled"

I actually liked the first installment, but this one abandons all of the magic and mystique that captured and is just a CGI-fest with no real story from the start. Disappointing.

Intense, mostly bloodless violence punctures the proceedings as well. And that makes for a PG-rated movie prone to producing nightmarish images for younger moviegoers. At the end of the voyage, then, we can easily describe Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters as a movie that's also a sea of contradictions. It's a description that's not too dissimilar from the contrasting content conundrums found in the Harry Potter franchise. (pluggedin.com)

This is what happens when stories get so self-absorbed they stop understanding logic outside their world. See: Twilight, Mortal Instruments, The Golden Compass, The Hunger Games, Beautiful Creatures.

How can such a brilliant book series go so wrong when being translated to the big screen?

Not quite as good as the first but not terrible. Plot-wise it's pretty thin, being a lightweight retelling of the journey of the Argonauts. As such it lurches from one CGI-heavy set piece to the next. There are a few inspired action scenes (the mechanical bullfight in particular) but mostly its pretty lame.

It's certainly shitty - but for me it was actually not offensively shitty, so I'll be generous with my score (this is me being generous with my score). Nathan Fillion with his little Firefly reference is OK, everything else is not. I'm pretty sure this film actually racks up a negative body count by the end.

Passable adventure story for young teens. It has that 'part of a franchise feeling,' the change in actors from first film is a Little disconcerting. There were some good 3D effects, (although I didn't see it in 3D you can tell from the camera angles)

Anything redeemable in this copy-and-paste project (some light, successful humor and Nathan Fillion as Hermes) is completely overshadowed by how hot Daddario is: seriously, Dental Waiting Room 4: Canceled Appointment would be watchable if she were in it. As such, without her, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters would fade into obscurity-- sometimes I hate being a horny teenager. Furthermore, I can't believe even Tucci sucked in this.
