The book is good and this is a passable adaptation. The actors acquit themselves well.

After seeing this, I wonder why Ben Stiller only does the dumb comedies.

Largely forgettable heroin comedy notable only for the darker turn from Stiller. Don't worry, he will still do horrific awkward comedies too.

I've awarded this horrible movie my absolute lowest ranking! I cannot imagine why I even bought it. Obviously thought it was something other than it turned out to be. I couldn't even watch the entire movie and I will never watch it again - just awful!

A weird, dark and not great movie.

Although this is the best acting Stiller has ever done (or will ever do, it appears), I can't relate to such a POS character. I don't care that he was a "talented" writer working on a show like Alf, getting drugged out of his mind. I don't have sympathy for him in the least.

The subject matter is a real downer, and some of the best scenes were spoiled by the previews. Great acting, though, by Stiller.

At least a few laughs help to make this more interesting, otherwise it's just lots of the usual shooting up, falling down, drugs suck (but not so bad that it still isn't funny) sort of movie.

A really surprising role for Ben Stiller. There is no comedy here at all (unless you find drug abuse funny, I guess). Worth seeing just to see Ben Stiller in something that isn't comedic. It's really interesting.

Good Dramedy role for Stiller. I tend to like him better in serious roles and he did a good job with this based on a true story biopic.

Great concept for a film, but it falls flat. Furthermore, it was completely impossible for me to suspend disbelief enough to accept Ben Stiller as this character. While his acting is quite good, this just wasn't the role for him.
