If even 10% of the animal shelters in America had secret basements hidden in disused wings that were not subject to any sort of scrutiny by underpaid/overfed security, then chances are more of these quaint boy-meets-girl-meets-cage-meets-philosophical discussions-meets-OW-meets-EEW-meets-oh, not that guy!-meets-how did she get him all the way there?-meets-okay, that was just gratuitous-stories would be commonplace.

The twist was fine and the evolving towards the change of roles was decently composed. However, the movie didn't really leave a sense of suspense or thriller whatsoever. And maybe it's the tons of CSI tv shows I have seen, but how did they transport each other? Like the unconscious body of a man with slashed throat through a building with police and security by a woman in her underwear with no vehicle.

Pet was enjoyable to watch. I can see how a critical eye could spend time picking it apart and leaving no attention for enjoyment. Every time that instinct showed up, I let it go and chose to go for the ride. I really like what Jeremy Slater brings to the table. I think this one is a little better than Lazarus Effect. It looks like he is working with TV now and I think that may be a perfect fit for this style.

An intelligent and interesting thriller that unfortunately relies on shock value not once, but three separate times. And then of course there is the climax of the film, which is...unsatisfying, to say the least.

The kind of movie you don't want to know too much about before watching it. For the first half, it was a conventional, slightly comical, stalker film that I enjoyed, but it felt like something seen too many times before. Plot twist came totally unexpected and made the film so much better. It sort of evens out again afterward and ends with Tales-of-the-Crypt type of finale. MGM was sitting on this script for close to ten years but never made anything out of it.

Seth was too gullible for me.. I would've been more entertained if he had been smarter, seen through her, and played her right back. Other than that, this movie was reasonably able to keep my attention. Near the very end, I got a little confused about continuity and wondered if I had missed something, but apparently not. Not as bad as I thought it might be, but still not as good as it could have been.

There's been a LOT of movies recently about psychos keeping girls locked up in basements - decent metaphor for the Trump era. This one has a different twist on the story, but also struggles to do anything with that twist once it's established. There are some neat ideas here, but ultimately I'm left with more questions than the movie ever intended for me to ask of it.
