A well acted movie with lots of recognizable face if though I don't recalled a lot of their names. I wasn't prepared for the last part of the movie and I thought while the idea was good it didn't fit the movie.

A Dickensian romance with a bit of magic to it, kind of like Portrait of Jennie. Lots of foreshadowing and callbacks. It's also beautifully shot by Charles Lang, thoughtful compositions and camera movement, and wonderful lighting. I thought the music was a little too much at times. But as an over-the-top romance, perhaps a heavy score suits it well.

Is this movie aware of how funny it is? I'll probably list is a major comedic influence in my life

A dreamy romance between Gary Cooper & Ann Harding that actually does become heavenly. It's filmed almost as poetry with dreamy visuals to match the imagery of two soul-mates. So why didn't I love this more?! Perhaps it was a bit too dreamy and slow? I didn't mind the acting at all. In fact I felt it was good. Just look at Harding's face when her husband wants to kiss and make up! That was one of the most real shows of disgust I've seen!
