In the middle of nowhere, with only a two-lane highway to connect it to anywhere (probably upstate New York), a recently divorced female traveler (Fairuza Balk), who is a passenger on a bus that has broken down, gets caught in a bizarre and violent turf war between two sadistic serial killers; one a truck driver, and the other a hitchhiker. Probably the best part of the idea is not fully explored, the duel between the two criminals developping as something else, but both the conflict between them could have been better and also the thing it sort of developes. Interesting and entertaining episode, but sort of wasted.

It's a fun idea but it comes off as pretty average.

From that parallel universe in which serial killers are (a) not can't-get-no-pleasure-from-killin' crazies but smoothly confident nonconformists, and (b) pretty much everywhere. Within this framework, this is not exactly scary or even really creepy, but entertaining enough.

My ninth or tenth favorite B director adapts my second or third favorite splatterpunk author? This should be good, and it kind of is. It's funny, certainly. It's gross, definitely. Creepy? A little. It's also, what's that word? Cheap. It's cheap.

What I learned from this movie: always collect carcasses after killing snakes with a bus.

Ugh. Well-written enough, and an unusually large amount of talent on both sides of the camera (hats off to Balk, and especially Moriarty), but this is so grim and nihilistic that it can't be said to be enjoyable in any meaningful sense. Larry Cohen is no "Master of Horror" either, but, unlike some directors in this series, he at least has a track record. Even with his questionable QC, however, it's kinda sad to see him stoop to doing a film that's borderline torture porn

This is one of the better Masters of Horror segments. It fits really well into the shortened format, mostly due to the premise.

Interesting premise; dueling serial killers. Too bad it's watered down for TV audiences.

One of the best of MoH. Actually, I hate Balk in this (who is not given enough screen time or material for you to really want her to... um... live). But I love the premise of two sociopaths squaring off against one another. Moriarty is particularly brilliant. I also like horror films where it's not all supernatural, but more about what humans are capable of inflicting on each other. This one works very well, given its one or two moments of stupidity.

A fantastic concept (the whole serial killer vs. serial killer is an awesome idea), and done well, but could have been better. The things that would make this a better movie was bigger body count, bigger budget, and a longer movie.
