One night while I was eating dinner, my 2 year old son, out of nowhere, says 'I have a weewee.' My wife, I, and my two dinner guests all crack up. My son then proceeds to repeat the sentence about 50 times. My dinner guests leave. Pitch Perfect 2.

I almost imploded after making nonstop Rebel Wilson fat jokes before this began about her entering the movie as a wrecking ball on a Crane ( because she's fat ha ha gimme more low hanging fruit for me to feed on) and she DOES WRECKING BALL.

It's really just more of the same and ends up probably just below-par when compared to the first. It's got a few genuine laughs but the story is lazy. Snoop Dogg and David Cross earn it some bonus points. A little annoying, but is an inoffensive beige whilst it hangs around.

This movie has one legitimately great scene in it, near the middle with the sing-off in David Cross's basement. This scene has such a sheer sense of musical fun and kineticism, a scene Glee would have loved to have come up with. Outside of that scene it's samey and marginally funny at best and I really felt its runtime and I don't have much else to say about it. None of the climactic a cappella performances impressed me much at all. But I did love that one scene!

As dumb and annoying as you would expect from this. It's like comedy Step up but instead of breakdancing it's full of actors lip syncing to pop songs. They also just had to have every ethnic caricature and a fat female douchebag Rebel Wilson as comic relief. You could hear the amateur night comedy club drum roll as the latina hot girl drops some one liner about the poverty in her country. I'm surprised asian hot girl didn't make a pork flied lice joke. This sucks big ole' lip syncing balls.

What the fuck's up with the expository announcers? Asshole John is only countered by supposed straight-counterpart Gail half the time, so we're left with a lot of just straight up offensive jokes in addition to the already strange amount of cultural stereotypes and fat phobia. The core of the film, fortunately, is just friendship, music, and montages, and it somehow manages to transcend its surface cheese to reach some pretty beautiful places (see the found sound around the fire, final song).

No surprise - this was awful. Just a slightly worse copy of the first one. The characters are paper thin and half of them are just plain stereotypes. Wilson is just not funny. Her character's one trait is being fat, and it's embarrassing, just from a screenwriting perspective. There's no plot to speak of. I know that the film just serves an excuse for musical numbers, but even those aren't anything special. A bad, lazy film, and I'm disappointed with several of the people involved.

If Pitch Perfect is a 37" television, Pitch Perfect 2 is a same-brand 35" television. It's technically inferior, sure, but if you like the former, chances are that you're going to find a lot to like about the latter, too. If you liked the borderline offensive humor and the wonderful a cappella numbers from Pitch Perfect, you're still going to like them in the sequel. For me, Pitch Perfect 2 is a funny movie with great music, and I enjoyed it.

This movie wasn't made for me since I have a Y chromosome & am over 30, but I chuckled 2 or 3x & I assume fans of the first should be happy in terms of similar humor. Story-wise however, I think even fans should be disappointed as the film has characters talking about stakes that the viewer doesn't feel. Kendrick hides her job even though no one seems 2 care & the characters constantly talk about this being "the end", but u rarely feel that any of them are too bothered about it.

At first I was afraid I'd walked into a rerun of Twilight or sun'thin, but no, I was in the right place. Males in my audience were about 5%. I may be hungover now but I think I've shaken it off enough to give an objective mini-review here. I liked the first "Pitch," so I was looking forward to this. It's more of the same youth-dramedy about fitting in, love, etc., but with a great soundtrack. The only thing that I didn't really get was how unbelievable the Bellas' opponents were. On "Glee," for example, when the characters said the competition was fierce, we (in the audience) felt it; but in this, it was just "meh." Still, good fun.

Whoever came up with the start of this film needs to pitch themselves off a cliff. I had to institute my politics rule on this film since the whole basis of this film is predicated on the Bellas embarrassing themselves in front of the President... and no, not a fake President like most movies do, they had to include our actual President (Facepalm). So This film would have been a 77 which is pretty good, but I couldn't get over the bad start the movie had...

It has as much in common with the first film as it does with Dodgeball, which is to say, more than it should. It comes off feeling like a parody of the original, and a significant number of plot points are thrown in for attempted comedy at the expense of any sort of logic. The new characters are both unnecessary, and the Flashlight song, which is supposed to be this year's Cups and the centerpiece of the film, is pretty bad.

If you go into this movie with your expectations for plot, storytelling and performance up to the ceiling, you're setting yourself up for failure. This movie's a good time with music, nothing more, and nothing less. You shouldn't walk into Pitch Perfect 2 expecting to have to think a lot, or expecting great storytelling, or expecting Oscar-sleeper performances. But if you walk into Pitch Perfect 2 expecting to laugh & be entertained by a formulaic storyline, you're probably going to be pleased!

Pitch Perfect 2 sounds good, but it's not a good film. Kendrick is just okay, and the new additions to the cast add nothing. The only interesting element is the internship subplot with the hipster-abusing producer, who is the only consistently funny character. Most of the jokes are banal; the plot is predictable, the script is weak, and the whole film felt like it was just going through the motions.

I have to respect that they tried to get as many jokes in here as possible. A lot of them were bad. But, enough of them were pretty good. Not quite as charming as the original and much more predictable, but still loaded with enough fun songs and winning performances that it's still entertaining. The story is more focused on the team's journey this time around, rather than on Anna Kendrick's character, and the story seems a little unfocused as a result. Hailee Steinfeld is a great addition to the cast, and she is a great singer. I enjoyed it overall, but it's a step below the first film.

Just like its cinematic predecessor, Pitch Perfect 2 has a few genuinely funny moments and some likeable characters. But most of those unnecessarily wordy parts--where the tuneful collegians have to talk instead of sing--are packed full of randy-to-raunchy pun beats and laugh-line low-notes. And that's saying nothing further about Fat Amy's "accident." Or even her nickname. (pluggedin.com)

That scene at a campfire, with every girl telling what she wants to do after college, sets the tone: less a film about Becca and more a journey to the future, with a stop at Denmark to claim the world title. Liz gives the female camaraderie the franchise (?) needed, adding: Packers, Hailee as a rookie Bella, almost no boys, Rebel's vagina being shown to Obama in the opening scene and lots of racist jokes by the narrators. Almost as confident and feminist as Fury Road, but maybe too messy.

This was a case where the sequel was deserved but they didn't know what to really do with it. Anna Kendricks character has very little conflict since she resolves most of her issues in the first film. She is fun to watch on screen but she like many characters has too figure out why she is still in the film. What makes the movie worth seeing is the witty dialog and bizarre antics in action. It's just not going anywhere with its shallow overall plot.

This merely serviceable sequel won't convert the uninitiated, but will (and clearly has) satisfied legions of fans who prefer a slightly edgier and more structured version of GLEE. PITCH PERFECT's trump card remains the collision of the dorky earnestness of a capella music with brittle sarcasm; the movie is aware of its fundamental uncoolness and gladly points it out before the haters can criticize.

In this sequel, the stakes are higher, and the puns are far worse. I'd equate this film to one big 'dad joke', by which I mean that the writers thought the movie's humor was hilarious in their heads, but when vocalized it is the worst thing you've ever heard and it makes you physically ill upon completion. Of course, these failed attempts at comedy wouldn't matter as much if they had anything to back them that resembled something other than a cardboard cutout of a plot, but who are we kidding?

Being a huge fan of the first Pitch Perfect, I was of course ecstatic for the sequel. So I go and see it ASAP, and I come out feeling a little let down. All the callbacks to the first movie were great, as was Beca's character development, but the whole conflict between her and Chloe seemed so drawn out at times. The romance between Fat Amy and Bumper seemed to come out of nowhere as well and wasn't that funny to me. All in all, it had its moments and great music, but I'll stick to the first.

A solid fun film with really cool music and a modern feeling, it does little to stray from the first film and become its own. Essentially is another version of the first one, but somehow it does it better. There feels like there is a lot more at stake here and not just because the Bella's are facing disbarment but because they are dealing with the pressures of what comes after college. It had funny moments and emotional moments. It was a fun film no doubt about that.

If you liked the original this might be enough, even then I'm not completely sure. It's pretty shallow and it desperately needs more Anna Kendrick and far less Rebel Wilson. It's hard to complain too much though because this movie isn't trying to be a whole lot more than what it is.However, I still can't help but think this could be done better.

Not only am I in the wrong demographic for Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). I'm from the wrong generation. I'm from a time we where proud to denounce karaoke (Idol, Voice, a cappella.... or whatever other disguise karaoke has taken over the years). This one is for those that have grown up and brainwashed to love these soulless karaoke covers. PP2 also tries hard to out-lame the lame concept and even fails miserably at that, making it even lamer then it should have been.

The music must have been the primary focus when creating this movie because it was outstanding, but everything else was not. The jokes were few and far between, and one joke was repeated at least a dozen times. I found Anna Kendrick's story line cliche and annoying to watch. It's extremely rare for me to walk out of a theater legitimately hating a film, yet that was the case for Pitch Perfect 2. I could not keep up with the plot for the life of me and was extremely confused for majority of the movie. The multiple unnecessary plot points rushed by way to quickly for me to get invested in them at all. The music was also far worse than the first film.
