The most shocking part of Pixels is that the theater manager didn't find me hanging by my belt in the washroom when it was over.

Every bit as awful as everyone says it is. Easily one of the biggest PG duds of the decade. There are actors that can take a mediocre movie and make it enjoyable, but Sandler is not a name that comes to mind.

Well, I've watched an awful lot of bad movies in the last 25 years, but Pixels will go down as the film that finally pushed me over the edge. I will never again spend a single penny of real money on anything even tangentially related to Adam Sandler. What a talentless, shameless sack. I'd write an essay about how embarrassingly bad this movie is, but it doesn't deserve any more of my time than I've already wasted on it.

Well, shit, the online overreaction had me thinking I was in for some kind of historic cinematic abomination. Turns out its just kinda regular bad (and actually better than, for example, the last Transformers). The awkward, slow-paced comedic scenes are the worst part, and feel oh-so-Sandler. Some of the big video game chaos is actually sorta fun. Some not so much. Really cool late 70s/early 80s soundtrack. All in all, I'd rather actually go back in time and spend a few hours in an 80s arcade.

Sandler once again returns to his youth and mines nostalgia for the 1980's arcade game phenomenon to questionable effect. The premise isn't bad per se, but it's entirely wasted on a humdrum 'story' that was probably knocked out in a lazy afternoon at Happy Madison. The special effects are inventive and appealingly retro in design and certainly deserving of a worthier film. Sandler looks and sounds bored and the rest of the cast simply falls in line.

I don't get films these days. Why release a flick whose subject matter clearly has most relevance to the 30s-40s age range, yet aim the humour squarely at viewers two generations or so younger? The screenplay really feels like it was knocked up in an afternoon, displaying a staggering lack of creativity throughout and sporting a deluge of criminally cheap and lazy gags (unless you find shouting to be hilarious). Some decent effects and nostalgia for these games just about masks the disappointment.

Pixels is the type of movie that gives those who play videogames a bad name. It represents them as awkward and mean manchildren, and despite allowing them to save the world, snickers at them at the same time. It has an interesting premise that's wasted on this story, good special effects that only serve as a reminder of how good Pixels could have been, and a complete lack of humor. It left me feeling more apathetic than I've felt leaving a movie in a while.

It's a cheesy sci-fi comedy that is way too in love with the 80s and wastes Peter Dinklage, but it does have some creativity and while the comedy is hit and miss it's not too bad. Better than I expected from Sandler and James, at least.

If you told me this was written by anything other than a 5 year old, I would be surprised. But I mean really, who wasn't surprised this sucked. Another Sandler movie with Kevin James. Great. In reality, the dialogue is cheesy and it sucks, while the concepts are cool, the execution is cheesy, minus Pac-man. It has nostalgia, but implements it with Sandler, or in other words implements it wrong.

Worse than just being a bad Adam Sandler movie, "Pixels" ends up suffering even more so because of the disappointment that comes from the potential audiences saw in the film. In today's nostalgia heavy culture this big screen adaptation of so many beloved video game characters ultimately spelled disaster for the movie once fans saw how seemingly little thought was put into the story surrounding all the flashy 8-bit graphics come to life. The same story is better done in a Futurama episode

It actually consistently insults its audience, which is gamers obviously, calling us losers and not understanding how crucial games are to people TODAY (they say Sandler's skills are outdated at one point). Besides that, well, it's part of it... but it's just lazy jokes. Another Sandler joint that fails horribly. The visuals are kinda neat though, and nostalgia is okay if there's something built around it -- which there isn't. But I still like seeing Tetris destroy buildings!

Starts off pretty well, with a prologue that comes across as being respectful to retro gaming, even if it is clogged with stereotypes about gamers. Then it becomes the usual Adam Sandler frat comedy. The jokes fall flat, and the two-dimensional female characters have the sole purpose of being targets for Sandler and friends to objectify and drool over. The video game/disaster action sequences aren't that bad, and would be pretty fun if there was a better comedy written around them.

Pixels has such an interesting concept that I have to dock it for its terrible execution. This is one of Sandler's worst performances of his career, but Kevin James is even worse playing the President. (And yes, that takes away any credibility this movie had.) I was forced to watch this utter mess and was thoroughly unentertained. The only time I laughed was at a joke about Han shooting first, and that's because Star Wars. The CGI is quality, but it's the only watchable part of this movie.

When the concept of having "lives" in a game was described, I died inside. Unfortunately, I had a life left so I was brought back and made to suffer through watching the rest. It's a shame that the not-really-that-bad concept is wasted on Adam Sandler and his easy money making friends who give as little effort as possible. Peter Dinklage seems to have a constant smirk on his face the whole time he's on screen, knowing that he's getting paid for this crap he's barely thinking about.

Amusing amount of sour people hating on this movie. It was mostly funny, mostly harmless, the standard kind of american comedy with maybe a bit more funny than average. Plot wise, it begins great, then deteriorates hard as the movie goes on. It had potential and didn't live up to it. No regrets though, it was an entertaining movie experience and worth the ticket price.

It has such an exciting and interesting concept, and felt like it could have been so much; but as soon as they made Kevin James president, it was down-hill from there. It has it's fun and giggles, but overall it feels lazy and uninspiring. Kid's might enjoy it, but it has some odd moments which make this less than ideal.

I didn't hate Pixels. It wasn't good by any means. Like many Adam Sandler films, this movie just didn't need to exist. The whole premise of the movie seems to be things were great back then and we should continue to reference those things so people don't forget about them. The plot of the movie had some good points but everything fit together just a little too well and it made the movie distracting. The movie had a good cast and I really enjoyed Josh Gad but it wasn't enough in the end.

Not as bad as people say it is. Some of the characters could be fun for kids, and the CGI is not bad. If they are young, they will see colours and not mind not understanding the references. Adam Sandler's presence and character however bring it all own way harder than any other goofs: it would have been still dumb but more palatable with another actor in

Almost an identical movie in concept and intention as Goosebumps, made by the same studio, the same year. Pixels has a better understanding of its target audience, and its nostalgia is more attentive to detail. Had very low expectations for this, and actually found it pretty entertaining. Jokes aren't as offensive as expected. Adam Sandler's performance wasn't anywhere near as depressing and lifeless as one's been lead to believe. Half decent cinematography complimented by fun graphics.

Not so much a love letter to video games as it is a shameless cash grab. Watch as a random smattering of recognizable video game shapes are displayed in dazzling fashion to try and draw in the dollars of the masses. Adam Sandler is asleep for the entirety of this movie, and Q-Bert is used as a sex object by a man child.

Better than I anticipated, but, you could say the same thing about a shit sandwich. The same formulaic Sandler script was helped a bit by a better cast of actors in Bean, Dinklage, and Gad, as well as the nostalgia factor felt by those who played those classic games growing up.

A few of the Pixels were dead in this film. To start off, I have a huge bias. I LOVE gaming. LOVE IT. I will probably only stop when my hands are too arthritic to pick up a controller. Even then, I'll hope for robot hands to use instead or video games controlled by the mind. So I did enjoy quite a bit of this movie. I thought that Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage stole the show with their small parts, and in the lead I'd forget Sandler and say that Josh Gad is the new funny man...

Pixels is the type of movie that gives those who play video games the respect they never got when they were kids because they were always picked on. It shows how the geeky kid who never got the girl should have been the one the girl took because he would have been loyal to her forever. It also shows that brains are better than brawn (and cheating). The movie was hilarious from start to finish, something I've never found Adam Sandler movies to be. Go see it!

The prologue (set in a 1982 mall arcade) is irresistible; the conclusion (our heroes squaring off with Donkey Kong) is fairly enjoyable. Everything in the middle is overly loud and too frenetic and thoroughly uninspired. Pixels had potential, but you soon realise it's just another Sandler and crew movie. Knowing that and having low expectations, I actually found myself laughing occasionally. It's slapstick, silly and contrived, with quite a few plot holes, but delivers on a few nostalgic moments, fanciful action sequences and occasionally quippy dialogue. However the film falls flat whenever it tries to be a little serious and heart-warming, especially early on. Pixels isn't great, but it's not that bad either.
