Place Vendôme

It's way too confusing and torn up, which serves no identifiable purpose narratively other than to seem complex, to be enjoyable. This movie is plagued by an absolutely stellar amount of characters, and to make things worse they all look alike. There's a nice story in here somewhere, but something went wrong at the editing. I think they lost track of what story they actually wanted to tell.

It took me 1h45 to realise that this film is a pure character study, not a heist or thriller with a very slow development. As such, I couldn't get to grips with it or like it. But even I can admit that Deneuve is very good in her role and owns the screen. The men in this film are not distinctive or memorable, which creates a problem of a lot of uninteresting, dialogue-filled scenes. The mise-en-scene is generally good. A watchable film even if the characters and plot are pretty dull.
