Oh, a conscience clause is a real thing? That feels like it shouldn't be a thing. How is that a thing? Y'know what, I think we all know why. I am enjoying this genre of film -- a raunchy comedy centering around teenaged girls -- and I will watch every single one of them. The two leads are great, but I also enjoyed seeing Edi Patterson pop up.

A fun high school movie with two charming leads.

Never Rarely Sometimes Booksmart. Great chemistry between the two leads, tackling the subject with just enough sense of humour without losing the seriousness behind it. The ending might be a little too pat, but maybe I'm just a sucker for drama.

I enjoyed the hell out of this one. In a 'Superbad' variation with a touch of 'Go', the two leads (especially Verma) are phenomenal as the best friends who come of age over the course of two wild nights.

make a sequel where Sunny's plan B pill doesn't work and Lupe's dad really does just think she's wearing a cute pin.

A breezier attempt at subject matter that Never Rarely Sometimes Always mined last year, but I think it's stronger as a whole. That's mostly because the chemistry between Verma and Moroles is compelling and keeps even the more outrageous stuff grounded enough to be enjoyable. There were some good laughs here, specifically the party later on. Kind of thrusts more emotional content on at the end but I didn't mind. Some of the jokes are even a little subversive. Not amazing but good fun.

Plan B is a strong directorial debut from Morales, on the rarely broached topic of high-school girls fretting over family, sex, relationships & friendship. The plot isn't anything new (road-trip for contraception) but Verma & Moroles have great chemistry that makes the film worthwhile. The 1st half is more energetic & stronger, while the 2nd half focuses on the emotional heavy-lifting being more conversational. The advocacy for funding Planned Parenthood is apparent but doesn't hurt the film.
