Mindless action flick that is a typical of Butler. Good Sunday afternoon fodder.

Surprisingly pulpy action thriller. Far better than it could have been. Nice to see a King Leonidas & Luke Cage tag team. This one's for the adults in the room that enjoy 80s action movies w a side of cheese. 7.0

A lot of clever and unexpected troubles befall a routine flight. Once the action gets started its a fun ride. A bit of it was a rather not credible, especially the escape. The action is pretty fierce in spots. Gerald Butler is a favorite, so some extra points just for him. Not the greatest action movie ever made, but you won't fall asleep either. Worth watching.

The filmmakers took somewhat of a risk by stripping the script down to its bare minimum, relying on the remaining elements to work as efficiently and smoothly as they can. For a film that doesn't have the biggest names of biggest budget, I got exactly what I was hoping for, a silly yet surprisingly watchable throwback to the good ol' B-movie action fare of the 80's and 90's.

A movie that has almost nothing to do with a "plane". A really enjoy watching Gerard Butler, but I cannot find a single reason for the existence of this movie

Why didn’t you just make the plane out of the pilot?

Action feels generic and just not good enough, though the hard-landing material seems cool and well put together. Also, gotta love this Butler's persona of lonesome, sturdy dad, here totally devoted to save his passengers. I guess the Colter-led sequel Ship will be better.

Gerard Butler and Mike Colter are awesome and there's some fun action here. Some of the story elements are a little silly but that's part of the fun. It's fun enough for a rental. Don't think I will be buying it though.

At worst, Plane has a forgettable, movie-with-air-conditioning quality to it, rarely bothering to tweak an action formula that thrived in the post-Die Hard ’90s, but has petered out since. (Alternate title: Plain.) But now, it feels like a refreshing novelty to have a robust, solidly crafted shoot-‘em-up in theaters. The stakes are low and the bar is lower, but damned if it isn’t a good time.

Very standard run-of-the-mill action movie you’ve seen like a million times already. It’s fine. Plane section was a bit slow but picks up a bit
more once the proper plot/action kicks in. Alright as a one-time watch I guess. I didn’t exactly have super high expectations for it.

The villains are not very good performers in this film, but Butler elevates this otherwise run-of-the-mill actioner.

This film is a lot of fun. You will forget everything about it as soon as you leave but its fun while you're watching it and that is all I want from a film.

I haven't seen nonsense action hero fare like this in a long time. A throwback to the Golan-Globus era, almost.

Gerard Butler is actually Scottish, and in this movie his character goes out of his way to explain that he's Scottish and yet when he talks he sounds like an American with a bad Scottish accent. Why? No idea, but that's Hollywood for you. Oh and the movie sucks.

I generally dislike Butler, but he's so subdued here that I really kind of liked him. The film goes to the effort of setting up a bunch of character stereotypes for the passengers, but then really doesn't use them at all. Frankly, I appreciated that.

Kinda weird in a few ways but still competent enough. A few elements are unbelievable although disbelief can be suspended. The plane only has a handful of passengers, which makes you think they'll be pivotal, but none of them are used as characters. Not a good resolution for Mike Colter's character either.

Despite Gerard Butler's efforts, "Plane" is a dull disappointment that squanders the potential of its premise. Underdeveloped characters and lackluster action sequences make it difficult to engage with the film, ultimately making it a forgettable addition to the action genre.

I was expecting that the whole thing would be happening inside the plane, and I regret not having read the synopsis. I was quickly bored after they got off the plane; it felt like a very general Butler action flick.

If you know what this movie is going in, you won't be disappointed. It delivered weeknight entertainment that my wife and kids enjoyed. No Oscars here, just a pleasant use of a few hours.

Spoilers. The direction wasn't so good/was too close/shaky. Also, I would have liked a scene that showed the transition from no trust to full trust between the 2 leads. Other than that, this is good for what it is. Like someone else said, this would have been great for a lazy Sat. afternoon in '98 when you're just flipping thru channels and see this on and watch it even tho you never heard of it/missed the first few minutes. It entertains you the whole way thru then it's over before you know it.

There's potential, but I found the film, though competently directed, to be underdeveloped. The scenes of Butler's character bonding with his new co-pilot and struggling to land the plane under dangerous conditions are the film's best and very well-executed, but once the plane gets onto the island, the lack of backstory on a lot of the supporting cast AND villain makes for an action movie that lacks true stake and an emotional thrust.

Plane is as simple as its title. It’s cheesy action fodder, but Butler has become such a veteran to the dumb action character that it’s hard to not find him saving the day pretty fun. He’s carved out this spot and he knows it. Colter is a nice counterpart to him and together they’re good enough despite its generic character beats. The antagonist don’t do anything memorable, but are a little more nasty than your typical action bad guys, and all in all, make the final act satisfying enough. Cool.
