Her personality makes me cringe

Plus One succeeds at delivering a well-written drama with flawed characters and relatable leads. Quaid and Erskine are good, playing well off each other; his character allowing an examination of being romantically non-committal, hers bringing plenty of quirkiness and humour. This 99 minute film explores the couple from plutonic to romantic over a summer, but the pacing makes the film feel much longer. The romance is clichéd and the least interesting part, but there's still lots to like.

An extremely predictable and forgettable rom-com. I still have a hard time enjoying Jack Quaid's acting qualities. If he has any. But boy was I surprised by how good Maya Erskine was in this. She was the highlight of the first half of the movie. Before the charm, quirkiness and witiness of her character faded away as the film went on.

maya erskine is fantastic. this movie glides down the middle-of-the-line, but it ain't shabby.

Solid romcom that does just enough to stand out just a little bit.

It seems like we are currently living through a sort of rom-com renaissance, and this is without doubt one of my favorites of the bunch. Witty, romantic, well-paced and with a breakout performance from a flawless Maya Erskine, who is having one hell of a year between this and Hulu's PEN15.

Charming, even when trying to pass off Palos Verdes as Hawaii

While I love the two lead actors of this movie and Maya Erskine really gets to flex her acting muscles in this, we essentially get just another color-by-numbers rom com with the same predictable plot points. The final product is hollow and lacking in substance.
