I'm all about a weird, flashy film but most of the flourishes were obnoxious. The plot wasn't entirely disposable, but nothing I particularly cared about either

Interesting camera angles, looks a bit dated now.

Dated as hell but John Boorman's ganster revenge thriller still packs a punch.

Lee Marvin wants his $93,000 back, and damned if he'll change his expression or ruffle his suit to get it. Anti-hero vigilante action movies full of guns and women-as-props aren't my favorite, but when they're this well-acted and fast-paced, with creative use of California locations and excellent editing (the bedding montage was super cool), it's hard to not go with it.

Lee Marvin is always watchable... this version slower than the later remake with Mel Gibson.

The simple story is made complex by the unrelenting desire for revenge by the protagonist.

Pure style, no doubt about it, and pretty different to most things I have watched. The clever editing, flashbacks and flashforwards, the colours, the shadows and wonderful shots are all great, but, the way this film feels: It is cold, it is detached and I get that, there are so many great films with a similar atmosphere, but this just me left too cold to truly like it and enjoy it. But I appreciate it though.

Watch this film for its encyclopedic detail - this is 1967 in all its nicotine-stained, clingy no-bra, Spanish bordello glory. Many of the interiors look like upscale rumpus rooms and nasty textures abound. Loved it.

This is a perfect movie - very simple story told by a lyrical, expressive director. Lee Marvin commands your attention and the director, John Boorman keeps you interested and expectant.

A flashy, ultra-violent revenge melodrama.
