That child should've been punched in the face and a SWAT team should've teared down her house, beat the shit out of her again and arrest that little ass of hers.

Pokemon Spell of the Unknown is the best out of the original three. From a fan standpoint it works best when considering the power of the Unknown themselves and the effect they have on the little girl. The story is emotional and action packed enough to elevate beyond the standards set by the series.

Pretty neat concept and some trippy visuals but the script feels extremely rushed and makes very little sense. Quality of the animation is also inconsistent. I probably would've given this a very low score had I not been show this by someone with whom the themes clearly resonated. I sort of "got" it through osmosis despite the undeniably massive narrative ineptitude.

Probably good for a 5 year old but not for an adult (even one watching it with a 5 year old)

Only reason I even remember this is because of an in-joke it spawned. Ha.

For some reason my friends rented this while high and we all watched. It blew of course.

Ok starting to go down the tubes and into WTF territory. The Unknowns are bizarre and the constant chiming of their name is like a dodgy trip. But starting to get more formualic as it surrounds yet another mysterious Pokemon.

Critics say that the third Pokemon movie has a better plot than its two predecessors. This is not enough, however, to recommend it to those not already fans of the franchise.

The writers attempted to raise the conflict and stakes from the last two Pokemon movies by making the story unnecessarily dark and confusing and supernatural. I assume the weakest of the franchise but I only made it to number 6 and I think their are currently 345,395.3 Pokemon movies out

The animation is a whole lot more sophisticated and it feels like the writers try a lot harder with the movies than in the series. I never saw this movie as a kid. The Pikachu short was really cute. I didn't care much for the story of this one. It was a bit strange and not all that compelling. Still, it had enough good animation, humour and characters to keep it entertaining. I think it was probably better than the first movie, but not as good as the second.

This is where the Pokemon films begin to lose their charm and the driven-by-one-or-two-legendary basis wears thin. Also, a dream world of crystal made by a Pokelion? That shit gave me nightmares as a kid.

One of the better Pokemon films, I suppose. Pokemon 3, like every other movie in this franchise, is only really watchable for its fans. But this one does have some rather nice animation.

I had no idea what was going on in this movie while watching it. I felt bad for my mom. I guess it's kind of cool in a surreal way, but the Pokemon anime is still awful.

i love this traumatised child wish-fulfillment fantasy shit more than most people, but this is probably the most disneyfied and nonsensical version of that premise i've seen in an animé.

Even pre-10-year-old me I knew something was amiss about this movie. Well, I know now: it sucked.

It appears that if you watch enough of these, they (incrementally) start to grow on you – whether this is objectively any better than previous entries is debatable, but it’s certainly more fun, with a better and more vivid evocation of its fantasy world, and some reasonably well staged fight/battle sequences; it also seems more straightforward and coherent in its storytelling compared to previous entries. Mild fun, but fun nonetheless.
