I expected this to be terrible due to how much worse the 3rd film was than the 2nd, but it's actually passable. Zed is still funny as hell, but other than that it really just got boring long ago. If you find the films funny, I guess this one's an alright watch.

Goldthwait and Winslow are great, as always. And um... Sharon Stone is pretty? I don't know, it's just a really bad movie, and bland enough to be forgettable

From here, not only do the Police Academy movies become generic, they start to become tiresome. The last semi-watchable one of the bunch.

The movie is way boring, but is not totally a disaster, due to his charismatic characters that provide some fun.

The only thing more baffling than why this got made is why it got several sequels.

As the Police Academy series gradually slips and then slips some more, you can see the trailing off of what little quality there was in the previous installments. While Goldthwait is still entertaining as Zed the rest of the cast has quickly become predictable and old-hat. There are some new additions, but they lack as much character and individuality as the some of older creations. Generally it's boring in parts, predictable and very repetitive.

Is there anything better than 80's action comedy sequels?

Better than the second, but still has no value. There's not a single joke in this movie that doesn't misfire. This series has the lamest sense of humor ever committed to film, just for achieving that I think that everyone has to see at least one of the sequels. Wait, maybe that's a bad idea, on second thought these movies should be reserved for torture. Torture and birth control.

This movie is definitely the best of the Police Academy movies. The recipe and chemistry of the movie is just as good, if not better, than the original movie. The original recipe has been working for them for the previous three movies and, just like KFC, don't change what the people want. I like the addition of the new characters in this movie, especially David Spade. I hope that the rest of the series is as good as this was.

By this point, the franchise was already 4 episodes stale. Holy fuck.

(Viewed on 05/03/12): P.A 4 does a few things right: it gives Zed a love interest and brings back Harris, who is a villain you love to hate played with complete relish by Bailey. The new recruits continue to be a problem (re:they are bland) and Stone is wasted as a reporter inevitably taken in by Mahoney's charm. Perhaps the most 80's installment of the entire series with its dated theme song and a superfluous skateboard sequence, PA 4 manages a few decent scenes to keep it afloat. Only just.

While the formula is starting to get tired even for fans of the franchise, COP is still an overall improvement over BIT. Goldthwait's Zed is still at the core of most of the funniest bits, and the pairing of Harris and Procter as antagonists is welcome. Probably the silliest of the franchise so far, but a lot of the scenes and gags don't really hit the mark so while it passes the time it's not one that can be recommended unless you're already a fan.
