The rating of 22 isn't for the movie itself, but for the producer. For a man with balls bigger than anything you've ever imagined. A man so cocksure of himself that when his friends and family didn't take him seriously for wanting to make another Police Academy movie, a franchise whose well had dried up over two installments ago, he said, "Not only am I going to get it made, I'm going to get a guy named Bonerz to film it." Bravo, sir. Bravo.

No greater illustration of the 80's going wrong than this: a SIXTH Police Academy film?!?!? Does the towering inferno of acting that is Guttenberg LEAVING 3 FILMS ago not clue you in????. Jesus Tapdancing Christ, you may as well have the guy with the voices go through his repetoire whilst the crazy one wails off screen. That's probably on YouTube as I speak.

In reviewing these movies, I have come to the sad realization that I have seen every Police Academy movie, and only sort of liked one of them. I'm not sure which I feel worse about: seeing all of them or almost liking one of them. This one wasn't as bad as 5, but it was still pretty fucking awful.

Now this movie by no means is the worst movie ever, but it's the weaker of the movies police academy and disappoints more than makes you laugh.

A series that should have died after the second film.

This is actually one of the best police academy movies after the second one, but it's still something that you wouldn't want to watch unless you frequent CMT and are missing a couple teeth--I'm not actually sure why I'm insinuating that hicks watch this.

Making anyone watch this movie should be made illegal.

Not good, but the gang is pretty fun. Sadly, the laughs are non-existent, but it's neat (and bizarre) to see an actual lighthearted police procedural like this.

Doesn't the Police Academy series qualify as a crime wave? Someone should have brought these guys to justice.

A Whodini appearance gives this film a tad bit of clout.

Eventually, you lose enough cast members that the misses begin to outweigh the hits. The real tipping point is probably somewhere in Police Academy 5, but if I pass Police Academy 6 on television, I'll watch for a few minutes.

Way past it's sell by date. Really slow in parts and frankly no longer funny.

Not quite sure why I decided to watch this, but it was pretty much as bad as expected. Michael Winslow is still great though.

Now, I actually managed to enjoy all the Police Academy movies up to this point, because they had that lovable and undefinable quality that made me start liking them as a youngster. This, however, does not possess that quality. It feels sadly empty because it no longer feels like a Police Academy movie, it feels like what it is, the 6th tired sequel to what was once a great source of cheap laughs.

The lamest of the police academies - a real disappointment compared to the others.

(Viewed on 15/08/12): A surprisingly decent late entry in the series that benefits from fully embracing the cartoon logic of the franchise. It's a caper film inspired by old crime noirs and Keystone Cops, featuring an oversized silhouetted crime lord and over the top stunts. McCoy remains a problem, although he is better here than he was in 5, and Mars is a welcome addition as a loopey tongue tied mayor. Winslow's antics are given far too much screen time though, and Bonerz mostly plays it safe.
