"Carol Anne! Carol Anne! Carol Anne!" Repeat that about 200 more times and you have just experienced the terror of Poltergeist III

Some interesting effects can't save the "huh?" that comes when one wonders what this has to do with the Poltergeist franchise. They literally could have changed Carol Anne's name and called it "Skyscraper Ghost" and it would not have had much effect on the "story".

If you watch Poltergeist, or even Poltergeist I and II, then watch this, you will say what I said: "Huh?"

The storyline is so horrible that it's hard to appreaciate the several nifty scenes that Poltergeist 3 has.

It is better than the second, but still so much worse than the original. It is worth a watch however in order to cap off the trilogy.

This is the only bad Polertgeist movie. The effects to supply the horror are over used and get old after a while, and most of the movie has characters repeating Carol Anne's name over and over again because they can't think of anything else to say. By the end of the movie, you will know the girl's name by heart.

This was on TBS all the time in the mid '90's and I remember always enjoying it. It doesn't touch the first one, obviously but I still remember enjoying it.

Incredibly God awful. Some creative in-camera mirror effects but overall I'd rather have a colonoscopy than sit through this one again.

High-tech variation on an overworked theme. Interesting visually, this uses reflections in glass, chrome, and water as the gateway into the netherworld, a Valhalla of ice and mist, but is saddled with dumb characters, needless subplots, and cheapie FX work. Better than II, but only just.

Freaked me the hell out when I was young. Ghosts and mirrors equaled many sleepless nights for me.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what the point of this movie is other than to be a special effects showcase. There really is no story; the filmmakers assume you've seen the previous movies and just give you more of the same, but at much lower quality. I will say that some of the effects are pretty cool.

Unlike the other films in the series, this has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Pure garbage.

Almost unflinchingly awful. The viewer never understands the stakes or why most of the events in the movie are occurring, and the film relishes in pulling the rug out from under the viewer, on average, once every two minutes. However, the film does manage to have the name "Carol Anne" screamed or shouted 120 times throughout, OR MORE THAN ONCE A MINUTE. The film's ending is the textbook definition of 'underwhelming' and, again, completely meaningless. An unqualified disaster.

Good effects and interesting setting. I enjoyed it more than the second, in which the only highlight was a fantastic Julian Peck. The little girl looks like my pet guinea pig. Bonus points, too, for the character Donna allowing me to pretend that this and Twin Peaks exist in the same universe.

it would seem that no one working on this film had ever seen a poltergeist movie before, and heather o'rourke is both too old and too fat-faced for this shit. but ok, i like some of the mirror tricks.

Ya know I did quite like the first one, but this is just horrible. The acting is completely terrible and the fact that they wanted to make another after the second is dumbfounding. The only redeeming factor is the mirror concept which is actually pretty cool. But calling this a good movie because of this, is like complimenting a sprinkle on a shit-flavored ice cream cone.

Hardly feels like part of the same series as the first two. Completely shifts from Spielberg charm and sentimentality to ultra-generic 80s horror with a few cool Elm Street style effects. Script is absolutely atrocious.

A girl in this movie says "totally radical" with complete sincerity. Nancy Allen looks so grossed out whenever she has to touch Tom Skerrit. Just like the second Poltergeist, it's mostly weak to mediocre but has a couple of great moments. It's nice to see Zelda Rubinstein again, and her death scene is the highlight of the entire film. Kane isn't an interesting character, it was Beck's performance that made him great in the second film.

The setup and new presentation for all things spooky is pretty intriguing, with mirrors and doppelgangers, but it escalates into all kinds of crazy crap (winter wonderland with killer cars, anyone?). The main antagonist from II is back, but portrayed by a different actor who is far less effective at being sinister; one of more than a few things lacking here. Utterly silly, love-conquers-all plotting, and some awful acting, but quite a bit more entertaining than the second film.

Sure this movie isn't the best, yet hey at least it tries to be creepy even if it doesn't succeed. Needed better pacing.

Contains one good idea that Sherman runs quickly into the ground: the uncanny valley effect of seeing one's image reflected in mirrors. But to even call it an idea is a stretch; it's just technique, and it isn't used for genuine narrative or psychological purposes. Kudos for going with practical effects after the light show of 2, and some of them are neat when viewed in isolation, but the script is garbage, the acting is weak, and Beck's replacement is a complete joke.
