OK I can appreciate what this did for both Canadian film and the T&A college comedy. Kim Cattrall is definitely smoking hot and probably puts on the best actual acting in this shlop. I watched this two nights ago and can honestly not remember anything about it aside from the aforementioned Kim Cattrall being the only one who brought some life into this waste of time.

Amazingly this was written and directed by the same guy who did A Christmas Story and despite the seemingly good natured coming of age vibe, the characters are bigoted and unlikable and often the humor is cruel and uncomfortable. That's how I felt about Christmas Story anyway. This was fine.

Porky's is a skewed perspective of the 1950's filtered through the lens of the sexual revolution. It's so historically innacurate that it may as well have been set in the 80's, but it does lend a certain anachronistic charm to the sexual shenanigans, which merely confirm that the experience of being horny and young transcends time and place. The film has dated in some respects, but there are a few laugh out loud moments, and the cast perform the outlandish material with infectious enthusiasm.

Only rated as highly as it has been because it's more a right of passage film than a real comedy ( and only if you are of a certain age). Dated, quite funny in parts and a mix between a carry on and the breakfast club !

I soooo wanted to like this and take a shot at redeeming its reputation, but unfortunately it is indeed as juvenile and grubby as reported – spends an inordinate amount of time setting up its gags only to muffle the punchlines over and over again, with many sequences involving our heroes sitting around and laughing at what they just did, I guess in case we missed the joke (though all guidance helps!). Copies the grungy aesthetic of FRIDAY THE 13TH – my kingdom for a hockey mask and machete!

I wasn't expecting anything great, but I was hoping for something funny. There's a fine line between edgy and juvenile, but this film isn't even close to the line. It's juvenile all the way, and the characters laughed at their own antics more often than I laughed throughout the whole film.

Porky's is as relentlessly funny as it is crude. For every time that you think, "Hey that's inappropriate," you'll also laugh hysterically. It's another one of the unforgettable comedies from the 80's. Really good!

"Porky's" is super boring, repetitive, fatally unfunny, obnoxious and filled with shallow characters. Teenage boys trying to get laid isn't necessarily subject matter destined for lowbrow comedy, but in this case it's depicted in a very one-dimensional manner. Sexual harassment is laughed off, racism is handled in the most superficial way imaginable and the result seems numb and jaded from all the inanities taking place. It's hard to believe so many adults came together, committed and made this.

All of these are some damn good ways to make me laugh and I've never seen any of them in American Pie, The Naked Mile, etc. What a shameful world we live in.

Lots of fun until the last 20 min of a boring climax. And it manages to have all this fun without much skin and over-the-board comedy. Nice use of characters on-screen laughing uncontrollably - I guess that sort of sets up the viewer to laugh more. Had me in splits. Hadn't laughed like this for a long time. Don't know why films nowadays can't bring out the same kind/amount of laughter.

Although I know this film really isn't good, I just can't help myself laughing from time to time. Actually it's a pretty bad movie, but some scenes are just hilarious. The Lassie scene is incredible and what about the scene with the penis in the hole? Other than that sometimes it amazed me how real-life it can be.

Everyone always talks about Porky's, but that is because they haven't seen this film. You keep hoping the film is going to turn the corner and become an all-out laugh riot, but a few guffaws and one famous scene is all there is to this movie.

This film is hilarious and stars a bunch of unknowns who stayed unknowns (except for Kim Cattrall). Its all about the good ol' days when teenage boys stuck their dicks through peepholes into the girls locker room and got grabbed by the ugly fat dikey teacher behind the tile.

Even though this is tame compared to movies today, this was still a very funny movie. Sure this is a weak story of revenge. The acting wasn't the best. But what it lacked with all that, this movie made up with a lot of charm and humor. One of the teenagers being "manhandled" in the shower and then her and the coaches talking to the principal about it, is still one of the funniest scenes today. Much better than most raunchy teen movies, this will always be known as a very funny movie.

If you like fart jokes, then this is a step up. But not by much. The storyline goes all over the place and the cardboard characters are almost interchangeable. (Of course, that's not why you're watching this; even the nudity leaves something to be desired.)

It is a bit strange to see a teen sex comedy made almost 20 years before American Pie. Unlike modern sex comedies this film actually has a message beyond dirty jokes, even though it is not very strong. Jokes misses more often than hits too, but when you want to see something simple and silly - watch it.

Seminal in its day, hilarious on first viewing, now looking more than a little rough around the edges, some great scenes remain and the majority of the film still stands up but the anticlimactic revenge on Porky and the ill-conceived 'serious' stuff really stand out now and should've been left on the cutting room floor. Works best when any storyline is ignored and the juvenile humour is allowed to run free - particularly the (many) 'awkward laughter' scenes we can all relate to from our teens.

I've tried to go back and rewatch the Porky's movies as adults. I just can't do it. I'm not your knee-jerk feminist type, but they just really are that misogynistic. I don't think it's intentional, I know the spirit of the films and the filmmakers. But that's just how they come off now. And the female characters in the movie actually make it worse. I can't even laugh at the fake vomit bra anymore (yes I know that's not in THIS movie).

Braindead sex comedy with a half-hearted attempt at social commentary (a silly and unconvincing change of heart by an antisemitic bully abused at home) and pointless milking of 50s nostalgia (ugh). It's very chauvanistic, too, but at least its somewhat entertaining and funny - unlike its absolutely dreadful sequels.

I wish I liked this more than I do. I usually enjoy teen comedies, but Porky's tone is somewhat meaner than other entries in the genre and I really didn't care for any of the characters. Still, I have to give kudos to it for making way for some other teen comedy classics of the early 80's.
