The director says that he wants his audience to form their own interpretation of his work. Well, here's my interpretation of this film: Reggio is a one-hit wonder who already said all he has to say in _Koyaanisqatsi_, and the entire movie is mere regurgitation

Life in transformation. Philip Glass made a great job so as Reggio who has an interesting and raw point of view of the world's lifestyles.

Lots of poor people. Poor, poor people. Look how poor they are. Watch them work in extremely slow motion. Don't you feel bad, you greedy American?

Beautiful images indeed. Great music indeed. But for me too boring. The extras on the DVD with some comments of Phillip Glass and Reggio saved the thing for me

A disappointing follow-up to "Koyaanisqatsi". The message, while certainly valid (industrialization and western capitalism consuming other ways of life), is more blunt and often comes off as preachy. Ron Fricke is sorely missed; while some of the images are pretty, on the whole it's not nearly as visually compelling. Glass's score is more varied here but it's not as memorable or forceful. It's still worth seeing but sadly a lot of the magic is gone.

I really liked "Koyanisqatsi;" this movie was disappointingly repetitive to me.

It feels too long, more so than Koyaanisqatsi did. You get really bored towards the end. Nevertheless, great music and great images. A very good film.

Powerful pictures and an superb soundtrack. Even though only one word is being said (actually written), the movie tells you more than words probaly could do.

It says nothing particularly relevant. Reggio is just repeating himself.

Not as kinetically exciting as its predecessor (there are no high-speed sequences here), but nonetheless an absorbing experience.

Beautifully photographed, but the result is somehow shallow -- much like a coffee-table picture book -- and not nearly as impressive as _Koyaanisqatsi_. Music is again by Philip Glass.

music and images were too 'tight' in this one, Koyaanisqatsi had some room for ambuguity

waqqatsi suffers from poor sequel syndrome, not something you'd expect for such an experimental piece of work. Reggio struggles to make an impact without cinematographer Ron Fricke behind the camera, and in a film that leans so heavily on visuals this is a problem.

Great imagery, monotonous music that never really fit the scenes and images presented. I know a lot of people like this but I'm not going to lie, I was bored.

While the imagery here is much more "personal" (think of all those model release forms for all those staring-into-camera shots), it doesn't feel like it says anything more than in the first movie. I confess that I like the soundtrack here more; it was still repetitive and hypnotic but there was a little more variety. I've also been really wishing there was a little explanation line about where we are or what we're looking at, but that takes all the fun of art away, I guess.

Hate to say it, but while watching this, I felt how I was afraid I would while watching Koyaanisqatsi. This one has a few beautiful shots, but nothing near as moving as half the shots in it's predecessor. It took a lot longer to get to its points, and what we get in the meantime is nowhere near as watchable as the original's nature shots.
