A movie that feels like it never should have gotten past the concept stages. Taking a beloved tale, and mixing it into a mess of a movie with sparce showings of zombies just doesn't hit the right notes. If nothing else, the acting is pretty good, especially from Matt Smith, and some of the action is fun enough, but it's tough to love.

Much like Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, the premise is much more exciting than the actual film. The bits that followed Austen's book were actually tiresome - both poorly cast and played, there was a real sense that the writers didn't even really understand what the book was about, and P&P was never a dark gothic text that would welcome zombies anyways. The zombie stuff - I really enjoyed! Also, Matt Smith nails a perfect performance that puts everyone else to shame: absurd, silly and callous.

Entertaining enough. Matt Smith is tasked with bringing the comedy and does a great job, but I was a bit surprised the rest of the film wasn't more humorous given the premise. Could have been more successful, but I have warm feelings towards any entry in the small but burgeoning ZomRomCom genre.

A terrible pairing. If the zombies don't put off the teenage girls looking for dumb Victorian era drama, then the dumb Victorian era drama will put off the teenage boys, adults looking for action will find little, ones looking for romance will find paltry writing. If you're looking for hot chicks in corsets too prude to show some leg, well we've got you covered.

Remember this late 00's trend? Abe Lincoln fought vampires, the Dashwoods fought sea monsters, on and on. I read all the books--they were hokey fun. As movies, though, they're godawful boring and pointless and silly. This has a few good performances--Smith and Headey stand out--but otherwise blah. Let's stop making these now, okay?

It's enjoyable if you're the target demographic, which is exclusively fans of Pride and Prejudice and also fans of zombies and also fans of absurdist humor. If you're all three of those things, this will be fun. If you're not, it's going to be painful. Burr Steers didn't do anyone justice here.

Once you've had your initial chuckle at the concept, there really isn't much to it. It's all a bit dull and blah. Beautiful women in it, though, I'll admit that much.

Frankenstein's monster of a film. Take pieces of every version of pride and prejudice mix with a zombie apocalypse and you get this, stitches and all. While better than many parodies the film isn't particularly funny or poignant, probably too uncreative for most zombie enthusiasts, too minimalistic for most p&p fans, and it's not even risqué enough to be called a bodice ripper. It's merely a ridiculous concept that was made too generic to be special.

Beautiful, elegant young English women are always a treat & having them trained in martial arts, wielding knives, swords & guns is a rare treat. Lily James was good & gorgeous. The premise goes far beyond the bounds of reason, but is watchable. It continuously mocks the classic story but provides a humorous backdrop when not being painfully pretentious. Matt Smith stunk it up badly. Absurd & strange, but amusing & oddly worth watching. The "Lanister" cameos were also a nice surprise. Silly fun.

im all for classic literature or historical figures to have monsters crowbarred into their stories... But gosh make it watchable. This one plays out exactly how a child reading the original who got bored and loudly started throwing zombies into the story would sound. I cant help but notice how HILARIOUS they thought they were with the shaolin and the zombies and etc. But the zombie storyline frankly sucks & the misuse the two best ideas they had :zombi lords who control hordes& pacifist zombies

Jane Austin's famous novel Pride and Prejudice updated with modern sensitivities.... adding zombies?!! A truly bizarre and freakish hybrid, but I simply couldn't take my eyes off this macabre slaughter of zombies and classic literature!

The book worked because it was still Pride & Prejudice. The movie settles for being a zomromcom in a vaguely Austen-like setting, and where's the fun in that, and yet somehow ends up being less outrageous than the book (what, they couldn't afford ninjas?).

It never really evolves from being a joke to becoming an actual film. Is it awesome to see 19th century women kicking ass and killing zombies? Yes. But any scene that doesn't contain that is pretty dull. The film doesn't succeed at making those scenes compelling. The zombie scenes weren't that great, either. Probably because they were trying to keep it PG-13. I like several members of the cast, but none of them really stand out. It's a little plain visually. Yeah, not a good movie.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has a very low bar to clear in order to be considered a success, and it did, indeed, do enough to be called exactly that. While it doesn't do anything brilliantly - except for when it comes to its sets and costumes - it's just good enough in most of its areas to more or less work. It would've been better with an R rating, and probably could have incorporated the zombies more often, but this is a "take what you can get" situation.

This was a fun idea that never really delivered the fun outside of a few playful performances. It deserved more edge. Lily James, however, is a great talent that should find her way into some better movies.

My fear going in (which was somewhat justified) was not knowing whether the movie would take itself too seriously, and there are definitely elements of that. There is plenty of absurdist humor to be found (though I have to note that I was the only one of six laughing in some cases), but the movie tiptoed that line of "But we're trying to be serious, too", which... no, zombies, get out with the serious. What won me over was the mid-credit ending. No spoilers but... I can't wait for more! See it!

I'm not quite sure what this movie was trying to achieve, though I feel the movie doesn't know either. Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice are plentiful, yet here Steers opts to ignore an established genre and shoots a movie that more closely resembles Van Helsing. The zombies add a fun factor and the costumes are pretty good, but the film is otherwise a bit of a bore, never committing to it's classical source nor the silliness of it's twisted premise.

Zombies can sometimes be handy metaphors for whatever societal ills we seem to be dealing with at the moment, and they can even wield a bit of spiritual heft if you look at them in just the right way. (pluggedin.com)

This film has a lot of boring moments in the script. There are some fun action sequences but they don't make up for the boring parts. Overall this film is disappointing.

An entertaining genre-blend, putting a campy zombie action movie into the period. Action choreography is actually pretty good, acting and development of the main characters is a bit shallow, the bit of a gimmicky plot premise (and going all-in with that stylistic flourish) makes it stand out compared to similar films.

Admittedly, I don't know the source material (nor the source-source material) but I enjoyed this for what it was. Pretty silly all-around but it's played pretty straight and I thought it'd be a little bit funny to be honest. The violence was also something that surprised me, but in an necessary way.

I had fun even if I might have enjoyed it more if I had read the Jane Austen's novel and knew the references better. I could guess however than some of the long speeches of it were delivered during fight scenes as a gig to make them funny. It worked for me, and the bigger setting/worldbuilding was delightful to me since I had expected something much dumber. I am not a fan of Matt Smith but his additions were entertaining. Clearly not for everyone though.

Actually way more Pride and Prejudice than Zombies. I thought, given the mashup, that I was in for a comedy horror, but P&P&Z takes itself more seriously than that. There's plenty of action a smattering of horror and a fair measure of romance. The end result isn't that bad, and if you're familiar with Pride and Prejudice you might be entertained with the similarities alone. I'm sure Jane Austen is spinning in her grave though...

While not really disappointing it still managed to be underwhelming. The zombie parts were CGI snoozefests and the Jane Austen parts were only mildly better.

Lily James is quite a specimen. It should be a requirement that she parade around in a leather corset and frock 365 days a year, swordfighting and dispatching foes with Victorian putdowns. Despite her star quality, this a low-achieving film at best (what else would you expect?) It's sub-par at being both a zombie flick and a bodice-ripper. The dialogue and characters are all supremely boring; any suggestions of danger or romance are a mere figment of the scriptwriter's imagination.

It's fun in it's own weird way. I have very little exposure to Pride and Prejudice so I probably missed moments that were more clever than my illiterate ass would notice. I hate when movies have characters act like a super attractive girl is unattractive, and this is one of the worst offenders of that I've ever seen.
