The members of SADUSEA (Song And Dance Unit South East Asia) fall in and out of love while trying to dodge Malayan Communist bullets in the late 1940s. Not only that, they have to contend with a loony, bible bashing Major (John Cleese) who creates far more danger than any of the jungle inhabitants. Only gay captain Dennis Quilley seems capable of coping with him but even he isn't aware of the cowardly Michael Elphick selling arms to the natives. (imdb)

I don't remember if I even sat through the entirety of this thing. All I remember is that what I did see of it struck me as being unimaginably, unfathomably dull.

Incredibly dull. Nothing but dull. Is there even any content here?

Truly bizarre wartime comedy has some nice moments, mainly during the vaudeville musical numbers, and some funny lines and endearing performances, but abrupt, brutal shifts in tone, and a rather confused (and confusing) final message detracts. Means to ape OH! WHAT A LOVELY WAR but fails to achieve the subtle balancing act required.
