No. No, movie. You can't just film a bunch of douchey teens acting like random jackasses, slap a title on it, and call it entertainment. Well I mean, you *can*, but you're wrong.

Misogynistic bullshit based in some alternate universe where there are little to no negative repercussions for being selfish and inconsiderate towards anyone besides yourself for the sake of being King Douche of Pasadena High School for Assholes.

One of the dudebroest movies ever. Narratively it's basically a poor man's Superbad, with the male characters chiseled down to base archetypes and the females to virtual nonexistence unless it's time for them to take their tops off. Light, scattered laughs here and there. The wilder the party gets the less funny the movie gets as it resorts to generic wackiness (a midget, lol!). I do give the editors credit for maintaining a hyper-energetic music video vibe for an hour straight, though.

Project X looked like a lot of fun and I thought it could of given The Hangover a run for its money. But I found this a difficult watch. The characters are completely unfunny and one dimensional. And all that made me laugh here where some of the crazy events and for shock value this definitely takes mayhem to another level. But ultimately it all amounts to one huge mess. There's been plenty of idiotic teen movies, but this is a nasty experience that leaves a sickly taste and a grubby feeling.

Rating this movie on any scale is all but pointless...it is what it is and you'll either like it or hate it. For what it says about filmmaking today and the generation its catered to, I shudder to think what possibilities await us in the future and what lessons our storytellers will tell. Project X is ultimately the darkest, shallowest and most depressing examination of the human condition ever.

The found footage approach works well and the film pretty much nails (part of) American youth culture. It's simple and energetic, only sporadically amusing, but overall a very good time.

Project X is a film all about the spectacle of throwing what could possibly be one of the largest house parties ever. When it focuses on that, it's actually fairly interesting and there are moments where you're either shocked or laughing throughout. When it tries to focus on the characters, it falls flat and has difficulty regaining momentum. It doesn't have a satisfying payoff or much of a message, nor does it have a plot to pay attention to or characters to either grasp onto or like.

Surprised by this. Maybe just because I'm a sucker for found footage, but this movie follows the party my friends and I could only dream of in high school. Acting isn't important because the characters are pretty much playing themselves (pretty much every character shares the same name as the actor portraying them).

When things gets heavier and dirtier -- and more uneven --, it's easy to lose interest, but I can say I stayed hooked for at least about 40 minutes. Overall, it's a found footage version of Superbad, but much dumber: the bros are slightly believable, the girls are certainly hot but totally morons, and the party is, well, goddam insane. When I was 17, I was just like the pre-party Thomas. And I guess I'm still the same loser.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I didn't see the appeal of this movie. The main character was likable enough, but his little douchey friends are grating. The fat one is an idiot, the "camera-man" is a non-entity, and the main best friend is a completely annoying New-Yorkian stereotype who is as unattractive as he is irritating. I'll admit, it has a few interesting moments (boobs), but beyond that it was an extremely predictable waste of time.

It's difficult to review this, really. The cast does a good job for whatever that's worth, & buried somewhere in the mess of it all are a few genuinely funny moments. Still, it's so tasteless, tacky, & corny in its portrayal of Gen Z that it's a bit difficult to watch in parts. It makes 2012- 8 short years ago- feel like a wildly different time, & not in a good way. I guess it sort of was, though. What saves it is how much a self-parody it becomes by the end, but it's still not all that good.

Whatever flak this movie may take for, well, pretty much everything, it is possibly the most iconic party movie to appear within the last decade of film. It never seeks to be anything besides a movie about a bunch of kids making entertaining and detrimental life choices, and it does that job very well. If that isn't your thing, well then don't watch the movie.

Oh boy. What a strange movie. This whole movie is about a big party thrown by high school kids celebrating a birthday party. The whole thing spirals out of control obviously. I wanted to give this movie a big fat zero because I felt like I could have made this film myself. Then the ending happened. It was super-surreal and bought it some extra points. The one thing I found most strange was the weird thrown-in love story towards the end. Watch this if you want to see what a party looks like.

A movie very clearly aimed at teenage boys and filled with all the things they are expected to love: boobs, drugs, fires, dwarves, more boobs, sex, alcohol, cars, hip-hop and boobs. The movie is not so bad as to be unwatchable; it's just very thin on the character front, short on plot, and predictable. Maybe somebody likes this but I felt it was a waste of my time.

This is one of the worst films of the 21st Century. There is nothing good about this film and should be avoided at all costs. The characters are ugly and nihilistic and the one that gets the party going should be shot in front of everyone just to show what can happen when you let a character like that into a film. There is no redeeming value to this film and all copies should be burned. Some films are not meant to have redeeming characters and some films are Project X.

The main thing that makes movies like this enjoyable is not the gross-out or physical comedy, it's having investment-worthy characters getting themselves into those situations. That's why similar movies like Hangover & Superbad work so well, and this one doesn't. Inside 5 minutes the characters mostly display themselves as disposable Superbad ripoffs. The fingerbanging lines, finding the dildo & "ninjas are pussies" were the only laughs. First 20 minutes, very pointless. Not worth the full 90.

If there was ever a movie that you quite literally knew what you were getting going in, it's this. I hardly call it a movie, I just see it as a really long MTV music video from the mid 2000's. I'm still at that age where movies like this mildly entertain me, they're dumb time wasters that you can turn your brain off to, and I actually like to watch things like these when I do homework. It teeters on being meh for me, but I really don't ask much of it so I'm not disappointed.

Party movies are nothing new, and definitely nothing original. Originality is the main thing I look for in a movie, and this movie had none. I did enjoy this movie though, for some reason it wasn't that bad, it had a few decent comedy bits and an excellent soundtrack in my opinion. You get what you ask for in this movie, the party (obviously) the drinking and the drugs.

I was almost about to switch it off and I am sort of glad I didn't. You can't help but see the poor connection with Superbad. Starts off really poor but gradually builds up to a worthy ending. The party scenes are the most entertaining, laughs are few and far between. Feels too disjointed to recommend but if you happen to come across it while channel surfing and you find you have missed the first 30 mins then you will probably enjoy it more. Soundtrack isn't half bad.

Good for a few laughs is really the only thing this is getting from me. It glorifies misogyny and generally being an inconsiderate ass but it is does in this weird, charming way. Even though that sounds stupid, it still popped me for a few laughs as the party itself simply escalated out of control. I'm not entirely sure where to start, Project X is entertaining, but that is about it. What is the most epic party captured on camera, remains only that, A scripted film about partying and the dangers it can bring you. The atmosphere is certainly well done, but the the entire movie just feels somewhat fake and almost like "a been there done that" kind of thing. At least that is how it felt until they over exaggerated how bad it got.

There is no rule against making pointless movies as long as you fill them with crowds of young people and make all of them party. Or is there? Atmosphere however was ace with mass party scenes and fitting music it felt like you could have been there as long as it wasn't your place. Be prepared for ninety minutes of dumb synthetic sometimes boring craziness. The aftertaste made me feel old but even that feeling didn't last long.

Hangover done in mockumentary style where everything is cranked to the max. There are some fun bits, but eventually you just get tired of the repetitive shots of partying and nudity -- or maybe I'm just getting old. There's really not much function for the handheld style and the film would have worked just as well without the "gimmick". Watching this almost back-to-back with "Animal House", it's clear that modern teen comedies could take some pointers and concentrate on the characters.
