Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil

The "Prom Night" series that never should have been, continues with this religious slasher horror B-movie, where a demonically possessed priest, like the movie, is more concerned with the "prom" in teenage promiscuity than any kind of promenade dance. Unfortunately the movie at best, has flashes of average, but top-to-bottom is just a boring generic snooze in between some Catholic schoolgirl boobs.

Haha, I don't get the hate. This was a fun, dumb slasher, nothing more, nothing less.

Sweet merciful God this movie is bad. I think I realized this about 2 minutes into the film when a priest prays to Jesus for the power to purify the "sluts and the whores" and thus allow them to enter God's kingdom. After that I'd say it's downhill but to be frank there was never a remote lump for it to go down from.

A psycho priest with vague supernatural powers definitely ranks among the most oddball slasher villains I've seen- aside from that, though, there's nothing very unique about this. It's a typical teen slasher with low-budget kills & a lot of gratuitous not-quite nudity, but I enjoyed it more than expected. The performances are alright, the characters aren't bad, & the weirdness of the premise kinda works. Super drawn-out, convoluted first half aside, it's actually pretty fun for what it is.
