Jack Nicholson with a ponytail. It's cool, baby.

A smooth and somewhat optimistic imagining of flower power era. Probably because it is shot right when whole thing was going through. While not a big time script, most of the acting and flow of story is engaging. Music is no Floyd, still worth the kicks.

Admittedly bad film but it's enjoyable from a historical point of view. The quintessential film about the counterculture, it's almost like a commercial to leave everything behind and flee to Haight-Ashbury while simultaneously espousing the dangers in doing so. And man, Susan Strasberg was hot

God is in a sugarcube. Or possibly in Jack Nicholson's colonial-style ponytail (totally groovadelic.)

Okay, what the hell was up with this film? I thought I might have a fun time with this depiction of the counter-culture (especially with its terrific cast), but this ended up being a mess, especially with its anti-drug messages which reached Reefer Madness levels of insanity. Trying to condemn the behaviours of these people only made their characters feel forced and stereotypical. This film was crap, but at least maddeningly entertaining crap.
