Psycho Goreman

There's a character that is essentially a washing machine or oven or something full of dead bodies and before it dies it delivers one of the best "Oh my God!"'s in movie history. We ended up watching this with some young ones and the thought of them being traumatized and trying to explain this in twenty years to strangers as a film where a demon unhinged its jaw and ate a monster is going to make them sound like an insane person to whoever they reach out to for help.

Yes, movie, you did good. Your journey has ended and you may now find your true place, a place of respect and honor in this man-child's heart. Yes, merge with me, so that we can becom- Wait, WAITWAIT ARGH, IT HURTS AAAA[explodes]

Clive Barker's Power Rangers.

Has that energy of what you think Troma movies have. Everything looks like a Power Rangers villain but disgusting.

Either you're going to enjoy watching a little girl be a little psycho and getting control over one of the most dangerous beings in the local galaxy, or you won't. But can we take a moment to appreciate the effort and love that went into the special effects and costumes, even for cut-away gags?

Honestly, I am just glad that the film committed to their ideas, and didn't hide behind the irony of making a bad film. There is a lot to like about this, but just judging the reviews, many enjoyed this more than I did. I really wish this movie sucked, because my review of "Psycho Boreman" would have been the most popular Criticker review of all-time.

It shows the creativity that a good B-Movie should. The script is clever and incredibly dark while being quite funny--the ending especially is pitch perfect black comedy, which basically takes the tropes and spins them. PG has a cool Gwar design going on. Great effects. But it also has a couple of the trappings of being low-budget, namely that the action sequences can't live up to the inventiveness of the script/visuals. There are only a couple but they're a bore. But this is a really fun flick.

Whimsical fun for the whole family

The heart is in the right place, costumes and fx are awesome...but timing and delivery take out the fun far too many times and the formula gets tedious and predictable. Frustrating to see the potential go to waste.

Fantastic practical effects and costumes. Really fun performances and bizarre, self-aware humor. Feels like a live-action Adult Swim movie.

I always hear the argument that some films are supposed to be crap on purpose, but it's actually hard to pull that off well. Most of the jokes fell flat for me, the acting is awful from most people especially the lead girl, and the whole thing is lacking in charm. There are some positives, like the lead playing Psycho Goreman, the monster suits, and a small handful of gags that worked. Most of the time though, I just got annoyed with it. A crap film is still a crap film regardless though.

This movie is darkly funny and pretty gory. More of a sci-fi action comedy than a horror film, though. Reminds me of Power Rangers and for some reason Suburban Commando.

Bit of a disappointment; there's so much here that should work better than it does - the monster design, the casual violence, the fish-out-of-water gags - but some really unfortunate acting and directing choices for the main human characters make some of it more annoying than fun.

eh... what the frick did I just watch? Unlikeable main character. Cheesy musical?

This movie is ridiculous. It's also just very genuine, fun and crazy in all the ways that make it stand out from the crowd. I especially liked the use of the costumes that reminded me of something like Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal and some of the stuff done in janky stop-motion. I felt like in places it did lose some of its drive, but overall it was just a super campy romp and I did very much enjoy its sheer insanity.

Disappointing after hearing good things, if anything it reminded me of Kung Fury.

Mimi and her brother Luke find an alien overlord in their backyard. The creature wants nothing more than to destroy everything in the world, but is forced to become best friends with the children. However, the creature also attracts the attention of other aliens from the universe.

Take the plot of Bernard And The Genie, the costumes & fighting of the Power Rangers and the stupid lore of Diablo 3 and you get Psycho Goreman. It's bizarre, it's funny, it has great costumes and some lovely gore. Nita-Josee Hanna is excellent as a weird little psycho girl. The movie drags a bit in places, especially at the end, otherwise i would've given it an 8. Still, it's rare to see an intentional so-bad-it's-good movie done right.

A fun little B-movie with lots of great practical effects. If you are in the mood for some 80s throwback gore, give this one a go.

Great fun made with a lot of love for trashy costumes, silly nonsense, blood and gore. Mimi gets a bit much sometimes, but otherwise really entertaining.

I had high hopes for this one, since I always thought The Void was pretty underrated. PG is pretty good, but not all of the humor landed with me. I'm reminded in a lot of ways of The Guyver (if that comparison is at all helpful to anybody), but I'd say this one stands out in some better ways, and feels overall more unique.

Some of the jokes were hilarious, but a few of the jokes fell flat here and there. I didn't like the songs, but the gore and other practical effects, costumes, and overall atmosphere were fantastic. Overall a great parody of 80s B movies with a really inventive script.

The most unlikeable characters I've ever seen in a horror comedy, and that really brings it down from what it could've been. It has plenty of fun moments, but there's an underlying mean-spiritedness about it that whether intentional or not rubbed me the wrong way quite a bit. Narcissistic psycho? That's fine, just say sorry. Lazy bum? That's fine, just say sorry. World-destroying intergalactic murder-demon? That's fine, just say sorry. I liked aspects of it, but overall it was just okay for me.

Original view date 1/26/21. This was the funniest b movie horror comedy I'd ever seen. A lot of hammy acting and ridiculous scenes, but if you're grading it based on artistic intent and execution & causing gut busting laughter? 9.0. An expected 6 level movie that has no right being as amazing as it is. Phenomenal entertainment. Expert comedic timing. PG is a treasure I'll never forget. Felt like a power rangers on mushrooms in a bad trip fever dream in the best way possible.

Suffer through the children for all the cool monster costumes and gore.

Good potential, but most gags don't work or are just too infantile and annoying. It's not all bad - I laughed a couple of times and some ideas and costumes are pretty good, but overall a disappointment.
