Convinced me that classic cinema is that for a reason. I really, really enjoyed this and this proves to films like Saw that you don't have to be over the top to be a good thriller.

A classic. I adore this movie, the remake was not bad either, but the original was great. Did you know that in the shower scene chocolate sauce was used for the blood- but you can't tell because it is black and white

The most famous and imitated horror film of them all, this was conceived by the master of suspense as both a black joke on the audience and an attempt to ride the crest of the low-budget shockers just coming into vogue at the time. Whole volumes have been written on this movie, the best-remembered and most popular work of the most famous director of all time. This was inspired by real-life Wisconsin maniac and ghoul Ed Gein

A classic of course, but the shocks may have worn off by now. Not my favorite Hitchcock, but a must-see in case you haven't already. Best seen late at night when you're all alone...

Interesting in its setup and execution but not one of Hitchcock's best works. It's tragic that Anthony Perkins did so well here only to have it backfire on him and limit his career.

Would have rated it higher in 1960, but today it's dead-on mediocre.

The definition of psychological horror movies. It feels a bit awkward though, to unravel the mystery with a psychological lesson from a psychiatrist at the end.

Hitchcock's macabre masterpiece broke all of the existing rules for horror films and filmmakers, set the standard for a generation of new ones, and kept uncounted masses out of their showers. Today, it remains unexcelled in its brilliant manipulation of audience expectations.

One of the few "perfect" films ever made, in my opinion. The ending twist is so, so good and so surprising, even today (it must have given viewers a heart attack at it's initial release!) Perkins is so sweet and sympathetic in his role, and Janet Leigh makes the most out of a short but extremely memorable role. Hitchcock made many fine films, but this is my favorite and by far his best.

Hitchock changed genre with this disturbing tale of a motel and it's keeper. There are multiple memorable scenes that are part of the movie history. Despide been overly known to the point been almost a cliche it's still very effecting. The style resembling tv/documentaries is another brilliant idea from Hitch.

One of the closest movies to perfect that is in existence. It is through pure genius that Hitchcock can weave a tale that still holds up til this day. Regardless of your age if you appreciate the film on any level, it's quite imperative you watch this as the cinematography, soundtrack, acting, etc. are flawless. Perkins creates a deep dark character that is nigh impossible to take your eyes off when he's on the screen.

Marion, the victim of Norman's shower rage, is hardly young and innocent. She ends up at the Bates Motel, which is no Jamaica Inn, because she's stolen $40,000 and then disappeared like a white shadow.

A surprising and brilliant thriller with clever scenes that reveal the brilliant mind of Alfred Hitchcock. For example the scene where the female with the stolen money hears in her head the possible scenarios that follow the theft is quite interesting. The actors do fine job and it's a pleasure to follow how Hitchcock leads you from scene to scene.

The all time #1 thriller, and a near perfect movie. If there is one thing Hitchcock mastered it's keeping you on the edge of your seat. The acting is great, the shots and score are beautiful, and the story is twisted. Hitchcock's masterful use of the "McGuffin" is so clear in Psycho. He cleverly hints at that envolope of money from time to time. Or at least until the famous shower scene. I love the "no late admission" rule. We need someone to bring that respect back to the cinema.

Perkins gives one of the greatest performances in the history of cinema as the most iconic killer in film. No movie has ever captured the perversion of the audience as well as Psycho - when Norman tries to sink Marion's car, every viewer finds themselves sickly and desperately hoping for the swamp to take it, and the relief is palpable when it finally goes down.

Brilliant in almost every way. Visually incredible and acted to perfection. Watching Anthony Perkins become a squirming, conniving, insane, and utterly charming monster is one of the pinnacles of acting achievement. Through the eyes of Hitchcock, Psycho becomes a beautifully created film of pure suspense and horror.

A perennial masterpiece that demonstrates Hitchcock talent in grafting a truly suspenseful film; embodying everything that he stood for: meticulous craftsmanship, eerie music and exemplary camera work. In addition, to being the first psychological thriller that delved into the psyche of a deranged killer, and, it showcases perhaps the most memorable and revered scene in all American cinema. A haunting and chilling story which is as poignant today as was in the sixties.

Legendary. Honestly, I would've never expected to like this as much as I did. Great performances all around, the story is gripping and there's just this special feeling to it. I can't believe that it was made in 1960. The only part that I didn't like was the explanation scene, which I felt like was unnecessary.
