Denial: "No, even though I thrive on shitty movies, I will not watch Puppet Master. It sounds too stupid". Anger: "Damnit, I still watched it. I hate myself!". Bargaining: "Well, ok, I watched the first one and it was a boring turd, but I won't ever watch the sequels". Depression: "Oh god what am I doing with my life I have no purpose whatsoever and everything is terrible". Acceptance: *downloads torrent of all other 8 Puppet Master movies*

Once you get over the initial excitement of seeing how each puppet gets the job done, this is basically a waste of time. "He has a drill head. I can't wait to see him drill things with his head." (Puppet drills a person with its head.) "Oh, great."

This is more fun than it has any right to be. The premise is dumb and the storytelling is thin and lacking, but it still manages to work from sheer force of will. The puppets are really well done and create a surprising sense of dread even if they aren't really scary. The rest of it holds on just well enough to let the whole thing be effective.

I am not sure how this was good enough to warrant so many sequels. It must have made some money (to the surprise of everyone I am sure). Some of the puppets stuff is well done, but it comes off as silly, when I originally saw it at age 13 or so.

Pretty bad. The opening scene is interesting and then you get about 30 minutes of crap where they don't really explain who anyone is or any plot points until one dialogue scene at the end of it. The final bit of the movie is somewhat fun in the crappy 80s movie way, but the movie overall just can't even be considered good in a "watch while making fun of it with your friends" sort of way.

I'm finding it hard to see why this spawned so many sequels - I'm guessing it must have made some coin along the way. It's a bit daft, the story isn't great, the acting is peculiar and that score was nails-down-a-blackboard. That said, there are some decent ideas in here, and it somehow has a bit of cheap charm. The only thing I wanted to know was the leech doll backstory - WHY? Anyway, this might have some appeal for fans of low-cost schlock.

It wasn't too terrible. The character motivations were questionable. Great puppet animations. Given the atmospheric music I was expecting more dread than the general silliness. Fav scene: leech puppet.

The only masterful things I saw in this movie were the design of the puppets and the music. The movie itself is a little weird and boring at times. I did just love how all the puppets looked and what special features they had. One puppet had a hook for one hand and a knife for the other. One puppet has a rotating face to change his expressions, another puked out leeches, one had a drill head and then one had almost full sized human hands good for punching...

The pinnacle of Full Moon pictures, the "Puppet Master" series is about as grand in quality as it gets for them. It's just slightly lacking in pretty much every department, by contrast, this one is a masterpiece. I have fond memories of watching these movies as a kid, apparently before I had aquired any standards.

Entertaining variation on the _Trilogy of Terror_-_Child's Play_ killer doll theme. Fun but uninvolving, this has a totally out-of-place kinky sex subplot and a cast that alternately sends it up and plays it straight. The FX work is great, with David Allen's puppet creations clever enough to charm as well as chill.

Watching Charles Band Production is a losing game: more often than not you end up feeling like you made a bad choice somewhere. Puppet Master is one of those rare occasions when I had good fun watching Full Moon Picture. Don't know why you guys dislike it so much. The story is average, but the characters, both psychics and dolls are just cool. Tunneler gave me childhood nightmares.

The creativity that went into the different puppets is excellent, the fact that they somehow have "personalities" in their small amount of screen time is incredible, the effects and trick shots used for them are nearly seamless and the kills and gore worthy of 80s schlock. Did you notice i said "small amount of screen time"? When there's no puppets this movie is boring as hell. Im totally down for 9 sequels for more puppet action.

Puppet Master was pretty stupid. I'll start by talking about what I liked. I liked a lot of the occult origins of the puppets but I wish there would have been a bit more of that. I didn't really need the budding romance. The effects were alright. That's about it. The script was awful. The acting was equally terrible and I honestly hated all of the characters. I believe that some of them were written for the audience to hate but I ended up hating them more and also hated the main characters.

Hits the wrong note by bringing in a bunch of psychics who then just sit around waiting to be killed. This one's purely saved by the puppets and the old school SFX.

Going into it you know, but this was just too goofy and slight to really leave any sort of impression. Feels like there’s is absolutely zero stakes the whole movie. Looks obviously horrible, but I did like the silly puppet POV though. Even the puppet designs are ugly. How is there 10 movies in this series?

Mostly for the kids. Basically, a gateway drug to real horror, but not good enough to satisfy more mature audiences. It still tries, though, much to its detriment.

Embarrassing horror movie about totally unscary killer widgets devised so that the Full Moon marketing people could sell toys. Sort of like those "G.I. Joe", et al. afternoon cartoons that are really advertising for kids to buy *their* crap

A twist on the Frankenstein story, with some clever special effects adding a little interest to the usual slasher narrative.

Everyone in this seemed so listless and bored. The delivery of exposition during the dinner scene about half an hour in is the most flat, uninterested, monotone performances I've heard in a while. It's kind of a shame b/c I actually liked the puppets when the weren't doing they obnoxious POV shots. If the actors weren't so apathetic it might have been decent. Probably not good but definitely passable.

Dull, poorly acted, poorly shot, and full of horror cliches. God, I got so sick of the p.o.v. shots from the puppets' perspectives. Once the killer puppets have been shown, it's time to lose the "mysterious" p.o.v. shots! It just seems lazy to keep using them. I did enjoy some of the details of the way the puppets looked and behaved, but they needed a lot more stop motion to bring them to life and a lot less peeking around corners with a hand up their backs.
